Colombus, Ohio (December 21, 2022)– (6-0, 4 Kos) social media boxing star Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul was recently awarded a World Boxing Association title, presented to him by Bernard Hopkins in Miami. Paul attended the recent World Boxing Association convention in Orlando, Florida, last month. Paul has defeated YouTubers, basketball stars and MMA star Anderson Silva as a boxing professional. Despite Paul’s social media following, his six boxing wins are not world-class boxing wins. Jake Paul has garnered world-class publicity and is a stellar star in the world of boxing and social media promotion, a relatively new phenomenon. Regardless of that fact, Paul was recently awarded his own title at the World Boxing Association (WBA) which he turned down.
In a new interview with Ag Fight, Paul stated, “I am honored. Really, that (WBA title) means a lot (to me). However, I feel like I don’t deserve it yet. I feel like I really need to fight for this (titular belt). Thank you. I feel like you guys should keep this (WBA title belt) until I really fight for the WBA title. I do not know (what this means). This belt is not mine yet (by accomplishment and achievement). I’m going to (keep the belt for inspiration in my boxing career and) use it as (personal) motivation.”
Paul last fought in October 2022, earning his biggest career victory over an aged 3-2 former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion, Anderson ‘Spider’ Silva. Jake Paul, with over 20 million followers on Instagram, and trainer B.J. Flores have been angling for a February 18, 2023 return bout, and Paul has returned to training camp in Puerto Rico, until the next opponent is unannounced. Well-hyped in the media 2022 proposed bouts with Tyson Fury’s brother, 8-0 cruiserweight prospect Tommy Fury of Manchester, United Kingdom, and Hasim Rahman Jr., son of the former world heavyweight champion, fell through. Fury pulled out of his bout with Paul with a rib injury, then with United States work visa issues traveling from the United Kingdom.
