47-Year-Old Sergio Martinez Win His 5th Fight in a Row in His Comeback

Orlando, Florida (December 18, 2022)– Sergio ‘La Maravilla’ Martinez, age 47, the southpaw former World Middleweight champion, continues to test his surgically repaired knees. Martinez won the fifth consecutive bout of his comeback after a ring absence of over six years, with a second-round knockout of Noah Kidd at Caribe Royale Orlando, in Orlando, Florida at 2:35 of the second.

Martinez, 56-3-2 with 31 knockouts, dispatched Kidd, 6-7-2 with five knockouts, Jefferson City, Missouri, age 27 and 20 years younger than Martinez, with a single right hand after five minutes of posing and cat and mouse Tom and Jerry style circling around the ring. Kidd owns wins over a pro debut, winless, and fighters with losing records. The brief bout, Martinez’ second bout in a year, did not answer questions about how proficient or how limited Martinez’ mobility would be against a world-class opponent. It is not a question of age or experience, but rather, how well Martinez can move on his knees. He could not do it against Miguel Cotto in 2014. Martinez has avoided getting hit since then, his saving grace in his personal comeback.
