Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua Preview and Press Conference Video
By Real Combat Media Boxing Editorial Staff
Cardiff, Wales, (December 11th, 2026)–Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua finally stood face to face on Wednesday, September 30, in London, and the countdown to one of the biggest all-British heavyweight fights in recent history is officially underway. The former heavyweight champions meet Friday, December 11, at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, with the fight streaming live on Netflix. Below is the full press conference video, a recap of what was said on stage, the tale of the tape, the latest betting odds and the keys to victory for both men.
What Happened at the Press Conference
The launch press conference took place at British Airways ARC at Olympia in west London, hosted by Max Kellerman and streamed free across Netflix’s YouTube channel and other official channels. Dana White, whose role in promoting the fight remains disputed, did not attend.
Fury did most of the early talking and set the tone by turning the negotiation back on Joshua’s camp. He mocked the “landlord” and “guvnor” talk that came out of the Joshua side during the build-up, insisted he is the top man in this fight and accused Joshua’s team of trying every move to get out of the deal. Joshua answered with a dig of his own, saying he received a late phone call asking whether Fury’s name could go first on the billing because Fury would not sign otherwise. Fury responded that it was Joshua’s side fussing over A-side and B-side status.
On strategy, Fury promised an all-out assault rather than a boxing display. He said he will not run or box, predicted a shootout and said that once he catches Joshua, “it’s going to be curtains.” Joshua welcomed the talk, saying it is exactly the energy he wants and that Fury’s knockout predictions will fuel his sparring and extra rounds in the gym. Joshua also said he will bring everything he has learned from working with different coaches into the fight. Fury rejected any suggestion that the fight has come too late, calling it the capstone to two great careers in front of a crowd he put at 80,000.
The face-off itself stayed civil. There was no shoving or confrontation, and the fighters shared laughs on stage, which led World Boxing News to call the event tamer than the build-up had promised. Sky Sports, by contrast, described the press conference as raucous. Either way, the two heavyweights now have just over 10 weeks until the opening bell.

Recent Form
Fury returned to the ring in April 2026 with a unanimous decision over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, then stopped Mariusz Wach in July, with the veteran Pole retiring on his stool after seven rounds. Joshua knocked out Jake Paul on Netflix in December 2025, then returned in July to stop Kristian Prenga after surviving two first-round knockdowns.
Both men have also shared a ring with Oleksandr Usyk twice and lost both times. Joshua’s four defeats also include Andy Ruiz and Daniel Dubois, while Fury’s only other blemish is a draw with Deontay Wilder in 2018.
The Promotional Dispute
Netflix’s announcement lists Turki Alalshikh’s The Ring and Dana White as collaborating on the promotion. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s longtime promoter, has said Joshua’s contract bars White from any role in the fight, and Fury has said he had a similar restriction removed from his own deal. White has said publicly that he is promoting the fight. For now, the sides reached an accord that kept White away from the London press conference, but neither camp has made the contract language public. RCM will update this story as it develops.
Betting Odds
Early odds following the September 24 announcement make Fury the favorite at most major sportsbooks. Fury is priced at roughly -175 to -200, while Joshua sits at roughly +150 to +165. Fury to win by KO, TKO or disqualification is around +125 to +130, and Joshua by the same methods is roughly +240 to +260. Books also lean toward the fight not going the distance. Odds are subject to change and vary by sportsbook.

Keys to Victory
Tyson Fury: Fury’s edge starts with size and craft. At 6’9″ with an 85-inch reach, he can work behind the jab, switch stances to disrupt Joshua’s timing and tie up the inside game when Joshua gets close. The danger for Fury is the plan he advertised on stage. A gunfight plays into Joshua’s power, and Fury is at his best when he stays patient and keeps the fight technical.
Anthony Joshua: Joshua’s path runs through pressure and power. He has to cut off the ring, land the jab and the one-two early, and go to the body to slow the taller man down. The challenge is sustaining that pressure over 12 rounds and avoiding exchanges where Fury’s size and feints leave him swinging at air. Sky Sports analyst Johnny Nelson has warned that Joshua could be in trouble if he does not improve on his last performance, and Carl Froch picked Fury to win a points decision.
