Mexicali, Mexico (September 29th, 2026)– According to promoter Supreme Boxing, Mexican 24-bout super lightweight veteran Arturo Alejandro Torres Gonzalez, age 26, known by his nickname as ‘Little Wolf Lobito’, passed away on September 25, 2026, in a Mexicali hospital from a brain injury, six days after getting stopped and then collapsing in the seventh round by Gilberto Garcia Lizarraga in a Mexicali bout on September 19, 2026, on a 12-bout Canchilla Promotions Mexicali, Mexico card. His corner had thrown in the towel.
Lizarraga, 7-3 with six knockouts, Mexicali, Mexico, was declared the winner at 2:21 of the seventh round. Torres, 15-6-3, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, who collapsed in the ring, was immediately taken to a Mexicali hospital, where a blood clot was discovered on the brain requiring emergency surgery. Torres was then placed in a medically induced coma, but did not come out of it.
Torres turned pro in November 2018, winning a four-round majority decision at Parque Vicente Guerrero in Mexicali over Juan Antonio Rivera, and went undefeated in his first eleven bouts, winning ten and drawing one, and going 13-1-1 in his first 15 bouts. Torres was hot and cold after that in his remaining ten bouts, going loss-draw-loss, win-loss-draw, win-loss-win-loss-win, in that order. Torres briefly won the vacant Worlds Boxing Council Fecombox Featherweight title by eight-round decision in March 2023 in a rematch over Jose Velasquez Espericueta at Gimnasio de Mexicali, but lost it by eight-round decision in June 2023 to Kevin Betancourt Barrera at Centro de Convenciones Mexicali. In May 2022, he lost his only scheduled 10-rounder by decision to Espericueta at Centro de Convenciones Mexicali. Ironically, featherweight Espericueta was stopped in the second round by Javier Nunez in one of the prelim bouts preceding Gonzalez versus Lizarraga.
