Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, (August 15th, 2026)–The UFC returns to Philadelphia for the first time in seven years tonight, and it brought a championship doubleheader with it. Islam Makhachev defends his welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry in the main event of UFC 330, while Mackenzie Dern puts her strawweight belt on the line against Gillian Robertson in the co-main. All 26 fighters on the 12-bout card made weight Friday at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Makhachev is MMA’s consensus No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter and rides a 16-fight winning streak into tonight, one win away from tying Anderson Silva’s UFC record. Four straight lightweight title defenses weren’t enough to keep him there: he vacated that belt, moved up, and dismantled Jack Della Maddalena for the welterweight title at UFC 322 in November, taking him down early and controlling him for the better part of 25 minutes. This is only his second walk to the Octagon at 170 pounds, and the first defense of the belt. His wrestling is the best in the sport at any weight, averaging over five takedowns per 15 minutes across his UFC career, backed by a Dagestani grappling pedigree that has yet to be solved once he gets a fight to the mat.

Keys to Victory: Makhachev needs to close distance behind pressure and get this fight to the mat early, where 25 minutes of control is close to a guarantee once he’s on top. Garry needs his jab and lateral movement working from the opening bell and his takedown defense at a career-best level, because if this fight touches the fence for long stretches, the blueprint bends hard toward the champion.

Dern is a multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion and a third-degree black belt, and she’s making the first defense of the belt she won last October, when she came off the canvas on two of three scorecards to finish Virna Jandiroba in the championship rounds in Abu Dhabi. That resilience matters tonight: her striking has become the more reliable path to a decision in recent fights, an odd development for one of the most decorated grapplers the division has ever seen, and it suggests a fighter who trusts her hands as much as her guard.
Robertson, “The Savage,” holds the UFC record for most submission wins by a female fighter and is tied with Amanda Nunes for the most finishes by a woman in company history at 10. She’s won five straight since committing to a rebuilt game plan under BJJ coach Din Thomas, including a decision over Amanda Lemos in March, and a win tonight makes her the first Canadian woman to win UFC gold and just the third Canadian champion ever, joining Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Newton. This is a matchup between two of the most credentialed grapplers in women’s MMA history sharing a cage for a title, and it’s the rare fight where “most submissions combined in a title bout” is a statistic that’s actually true.
Keys to Victory: Dern needs to keep this standing behind her, improve her boxing, and pick her grappling exchanges carefully, since a bad scramble against Robertson’s guard can end a night fast. Robertson needs to force this to the mat and put Dern in unfamiliar defensive positions early, because a five-round battle of attrition on the feet favors the champion’s more polished hands.

Abdul-Malik came out of Dana White’s Contender Series and has finished seven of his nine career wins, but he’s coming off the first loss of his life, a third-round knockout at the hands of Yousri Belgaroui in March. He’s back in the cage just five months later looking to prove that loss was an outlier and not a preview of what’s ahead against better middleweight competition.
Stoltzfus has been a UFC roster fixture since 2018 and has gone the distance with legitimate contenders like Kelvin Gastelum, but he’s dropped two straight, most recently a decision to Nursulton Ruziboev in May. He’s tough and durable, and his path forward runs through surviving Abdul-Malik’s opening storm and finding the places the younger man’s questioned chin can be tested.
Keys to Victory: Abdul-Malik wants to push the pace immediately and end this before the fight reaches deep water, leaning on a five-inch reach edge and heavy hands. Stoltzfus needs to weather the first two rounds intact and drag this into the championship rounds, where his experience against tougher competition becomes the deciding factor.

Barboza is in his 15th year with the promotion and has fought nearly every serious name the lightweight division has produced this decade. He remains the only fighter in UFC history to finish opponents by low kick, body kick, and head kick, but he’s dropped three straight, and there’s a real chance Philadelphia is the last stop of a legendary career.
Ribovics is a 30-year-old Argentine who made his name dropping Terrance McKinney with a head kick and grinding out Elves Brener, earning three Performance of the Night bonuses across his last four fights. His only UFC loss came last time out, a submission to Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 327 in April, after Gamrot took away his kicking game and put him on his back.
Keys to Victory: Barboza needs to establish range early and land the kind of kick that’s ended fights throughout his career, before the pace and volume catch up to a 40-year-old chin. Ribovics needs to push forward behind his own kicking attack and drag this into deep water, testing durability that has visibly started to decline.
