Three Minute Rounds! Alycia Baumgardner vs Shin Headlines Jake Paul ESPN MSG Card

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

New York, NY (April 17th, 2026)– Jake Paul’s MVP Promotions, ESPN, and Madison Square Garden will present a nine-bout card of professional boxing at Infosys Theatre at The Garden on Friday night, April 17, 2026, featuring the female International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organisation World Super Featherweight title, fought at three minutes per round for the first time in female professional boxing history.

Alycia Baumgardner, 17-1 with seven knockouts, Detroit, Michigan, is favored to retain her IBF and WBO Female World Super Featherweight titles by 10 rounds unanimous decision over challenger Bo Mi Ri Shin, 19-3-3 with 10 knockouts, Seoul, South Korea.  Buamgardner is a 1:/15 favorite at -1600. Shin is a 15:2 underdog at +830. Odds of a draw are -2000 at 20:1. Over 9.5 rounds is favored to occur at -600.

Baumgardner is a highly technical fighter with superior ring generalship. Baumgardner has won at six rounds, eight rounds, and 10 rounds distance, and also has six first-round knockouts on her record. Shin has gone 10 rounds eight times and could prove hard to stop, despite the three-minute per female round variation this bout presents as a riddle to see what happens. Shin is a volume puncher with a relentless style. If she can break Baumgardner down to the body during the complete three minutes per round, Shin could be dangerous. Look for Baumgardner to outwork and outpoint Shin from the outside while remaining out of range with superior footwork and maneuverability inside the ring throughout. The scorecards could be closer than expected. Again, odds have less emphasis here as this one-of-a-kind three-minute-per-round female bout, a rarity, could reveal how well females will fare in a world title bout with three-minute rounds versus the usual (but not always) two-minute female rounds.

Robert Brizel’s current prediction record is 73-18-7  (2-3 Featured fights)
