Showdown Fights returns to action on GFL on November 21 from the UCCU in Orem, Utah with “Showdown Fights 15: Castillo VS Marunde”. The action packed 8-bout card promises to raise the bar on the regional MMA scene as Showdown Fights presents another top tier, world class card.
In the main event, Dave Castillo (18-5) fights UFC vet Bristol Marunde (14-9) in a welterweight clash. Castillo is a gritty fighter who is a veteran to Showdown Fights and Mountain West MMA. Castillo has only dropped 1 fight in his last 10 bouts and has scored some impressive wins in his illustrious career against fighters who now fight in the UFC. Castillo is well versed on the ground with 9 submission wins to go along with 6 KOs. Castillo knows how to finish. Marunde comes into the fight with a decided size and strength advantage as he once fought as a middleweight while Castillo has fought as a lightweight. Marunde is on a 2 fight winning streak and looking to get back to the Octagon. He faces a tough opponent in Castillo and Marunde is ready for the challenge. Marunde has 9 finishes and has fought a who’s who in his career starting very early when he was part of the IFL Tiger Sharks only a year into his career. Look for Marunde to try and connect early and often with strikes.
In the co-main event, in a lightweight contest, David Putvin (6-0) battles Jordan Clements (10-1) in what is sure to be a barn burner. Putvin is undefeated in his career, having finished all of his fights via submission. Putvin trains out of Jeremy Horn’s Elite Performance Center and is constantly refining his all-around game. But make no mistake, his ground game is world class and his bread and butter. Clements comes into the fight looking to knock off an undefeated fighter as well as push himself up the ladder in the stacked lightweight division. Clements is coming off of 2 straight no contests and 3 of his last 4 fights have been NCs. Clements is looking to get back in the win column and continue his sky rocketing career. Both Putvin and Clements are on a collision course and on November 21 they will give the fans a terrific fight.
In other action, WSOF vet Lucas Montoya (7-3) takes on Bellator vet Koffi Adzitso (20-10). Montoya has won 3 fights in a row, all in the first round, and has a total of 6 finishes in the first round. Adzitso is a grinder and will outwork his opponent for 3 rounds. Adzitso is a durable fighter with great cardio and heavy hands. This fight should be explosive.
Tune in November 21 as “Showdown Fights 15: Castillo VS Marunde” comes to GFL.TV live and direct. Watch the top regional organization in the West as they continue to showcase the best fighters in the region. Order now.

Champs at the Chase – Round Two
Fri Nov 21 8:00PM ET
Click here to watch this event on GoFightLive!
Champs Promotions has announced that it will follow up its wildly successful event from February 2013 with another double-title professional boxing event – “Champs at the Chase” Round Two. In 2013, the sold out crowd at the Chase Center on the Riverfront proved that Wilmington could be a destination for high-level boxing on the East Coast. “Champs at the Chase”? Round Two will continue that momentum, with two well-matched title fights preceded by a fast-paced, hard-hitting undercard.
Headlining the night will be welterweight “The New” Ray Robinson, ranked 9th in the world by the World Boxing Organization (WBO). This notoriously competitive weight class, dominated by Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr., has proven to be little challenge for Robinson (18(8)-2-0). Though his opponent, Puerto Rican Daniel “The Hudson Valley Kid” Sostre (13(5)-9(3)-1), may have just the right moves. Sostre is coming off of two wins and has established a name for himself fighting at major venues like Radio City Music Hall (NY), Boardwalk Hall (NJ), and the House of Blues (MA). While Robinson currently holds the NABO Welterweight Title, Sostre will be sure to put him through his paces to defend it.
The NABA Cruiserweight Championship will also be on the line as Alex Guerrero takes on Tony “Boom Boom” Ferrante. Currently 11-0-1 with 5 knockouts, Guerrero, from Salisbury, Maryland, has been steadily climbing through the rankings. Ferrante, whose record stands at 13(8)-6(1)-0, is an impressive athlete who has established himself in the challenging Philadelphia circuit.
The undercard will feature Delawar’s favorite “Joltin” Joey Tiberi (12-2-0). In addition, Dover’s Lamont “The Problem Solver” Singletary (6-1-0) will take on Philadelphia’s Brian “Wildman” Donohue (3-10-2) and Wilmingtonian David Murray (1-1-0) will fight Virginian Michael Todd (0-1-0).

After an impressive Submission victory in his AFC debut at AFC 10, Alex ‘Dr. Octopus’ Anthony returns to take on Peter ‘Bulldog’ Davenport at AFC 11 on 22 November.
A very relaxed Dr. Octopus stated has nothing but good memories from his AFC debut:
“Ah yeah it was really cool, I definitely had a good time”
Alex’s AFC debut victory came in the form of Submission via Armbar against Extreme MMA wrestler Nikos Trepca; safe to say Alex was happy with the outcome:
“Umm yeah that was really the plan to end up on my back, but thats one of my strongest positions in my jits game”
The crowd were really into Alex’s AFC Debut fight; both guys traded punches, kicks, knees and elbows in what resembled a bit of a bar brawl! Seems Alex is dangerous both standing and on the ground:
“My hands have come a long way and although I’m probably still a better ground fighter I prefer to stand and bang”
Alex trains at Gambred with an array of talented fighters including Brendan O’Reilly, Chris Birch and Dean Purdon. Being surrounded by fighters of this calibre can only be beneficial for his career:
“Yeah having great training partners is really the key to getting better so I am lucky to have each of those guys to constantly train”
A big step up in competition awaits Alex at AFC 11 in the form of the dangerous and aggressive ‘Bulldog’ Peter Davenport; Alex however is excited for the challenge:
“Umm yeah definitely a big challenge for me I’m just looking forward to getting out there mucking around a bit. Have some fun, thats all I’m there for”
Johnny Beirouti will make his AFC debut when he takes on the tough and durable Chris Lindner. Fighting on Australia’s #1 MMA Promotion might be daunting for some; but John is taking it all in his stride:
“To be honest the feeling is one that’s hard to describe. I am so grateful for my shot on the main stage and I will do the AFC and all the supporters proud”
John has a close affiliation with Peter ‘Bulldog’ Davenport which is no doubt a huge advantage as he prepares to make his AFC debut:
“Bulldog Davenport is an inspiration to myself and to have him as my manager and in my corner will give me the winning edge, he is very disciplined and hard on me, which I love”
A lot of AFC fans probably wouldn’t know much about John; however his MMA story is intriguing:
“My background is very colourful and probably started in grade 4 when a fellow student tried to steal my crayons!! I sort of knew that I could throw a few from that time on. I have done a little bit of boxing and been on the end of some good combos from Australia Commonwealth bronze medallist Ben Mceachran. I love getting punched in the head and will bang all day long!”
On November 22 John’s welcome to the AFC will not be an easy one when he faces the heavy handed South Australian Chris Lindner:
“Yes I have the utmost respect for Chris and am very grateful he has taken this fight. I was at AFC 10 and watched his fight. Dead right he can handle a punch and has a big heart. But I’m like a caged lion that needs his prey, unfortunately Chris is the prey that night”
Tim ‘Blade’ Zosh will make his AFC debut when he takes on Chris ‘The Warrior’ Wase.
Tim is very excited to be fighting on Australia’s #1 MMA promotion:
“Well I know a lot of top fighters from around the country have competed in the AFC so I feel honored fighting amongst big names. Also it’s good to get away from Queensland and get a feel for the rest of the MMA scene in Australia”
Within the MMA scene Tim is known as ‘Blade’ and the story behind this nickname is an intriguing one:
“I have tendency to go a bit wild in the gym and I’ve been known to cut open a few of my training partners. My coach gave me the name after one too many incidents and said “I cut people open like a razor blade”
