Huck vs Afolabi III Recap: Huck retains WBO Cruiserweight Belt

By Real Combat Media Correspondent, Eliezer Garcia

Berlin,Germany (June 9th, 2013)–  At the Max Schmelling HalleMarco Huck (36-2-25 KOs) leaves all questions out the door when he dominated the Nigerian native Ola Afolabi (19-3-9KOs). Huck dominated the majority of the early rounds. Huck knew exactly what he had to do in this third fight, landing massive strong right hands that would make Afolabi think twice.

Both fighters had two previously brawls back in 2009 and a draw in 2012. In their first encounter Ole had a close lost to Huck, and as for their second fight both fighters got into a sluggish brawl that landed them a draw. As for this third fight Huck landed the cleaner head shots, the right hand being the most effective punch of the night.

Agolabi, seeing he was down on the scorecards tried to pick up the tempo in the last few rounds of the fights. A little to late due to the fact Huck won the majority of the early rounds.

Judge Lahcen Oumghar of the Netherlands scored it 114-114 for Afolabi. But Deon Dwarte of South Africa and John Madfis of the United States agreed Huck won, scoring it 115-113 and 117-111,

“I think I surpassed myself today,” Huck said. “Today I showed that I can box. Key to the success was my good preparation.
