Iowa Boxer Busted For Taking A 13 Second Dive

By Robert Brizel, Real Combat Media Correspondent

Iowa Cruiserweight Nicholas Cape has been suspended in North Dakota for taking a 13 second dive without getting hit in his bout with ex-Minnesota Vikings and Atlantic Falcons defensive end Ray Edwards, now a heavyweight boxer.  Event promoter Cory Rapacz said Capes, a cruiserweight, was a last-minute replacement for several no-show boxers and didn’t realize what he was getting into before stepping into the ring with the bigger and heavier Edwards, who fights as a heavyweight. Capes, scared at he was thrown in the ring with looked for an immediate way out. It appears Capes did not expect the match to be at the higher weight, raising questions about the fighter’s safety as much as what the fighter did.
