Kirk Douglas met Rocky Marciano when he was in a Los Angeles gym training for the movie 'Champion' in 1950, while Rocky was in the same gym training to become the world heavyweight champion. "I was proud to be Rocky Marciano's friend, and in many ways, what a career. Rocky Marciano, the greatest champion in the history of boxing, a legend in his own time. He was the only undefeated champion, and his record was unsurpassed. 49 victories in 49 fights, 43 by knockout,' noted Douglas about the most determined fighter who ever lived.
