Mike Tyson Boxed Here –  No More Trump Plaza Boxing, To Be Blown Up February 2021

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Atlantic City, NY (December 18th, 2020)–Iron Mike Tyson was there. Beginning in 1985, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey hosted 41 boxing events. As the presidency of Donald Trump will end on January 20, 2021, so shall the existence of the Trump Plaza on the Atlantic City Boardwalk also come to an end.

The Trump Plaza will outlast the legend of its namesake by a mere nine days. The Trump Plaza will be blown up by implosion sometime in February 2021. For the right price, Atlantic City is auctioning off the right to push the button to blow the Trump Plaza up.

On December 8, 1990, Iron Mike Tyson, having lost his world heavyweight title to James Buster Douglas the previous February, continued his comeback at the Trump Plaza against Alex Stewart. Tyson knocked down Stewart three times to earn an automatic technical knockout win at 2:27 of the first round. The bout was billed as “The Hard Way Back”. Tyson had knocked out Henry Tillman in June 1990 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in his first comeback bout after losing to Douglas. The Stewart bout was the second comeback bout for Tyson, then the number one heavyweight contender.
