Jake Paul Retires

Jake Paul Announces Retirement in Cryptic Tweet

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Cleveland, OH (August 31st, 2021)– Less than 24 hours after struggling to win an eight round decision over 39-year-old former debuting former UFC star Tyron Woodley in a pay-per-view light heavyweight tangle, social media star Jake Paul has tweeted his fourth bout, with Woodley, will be his last.

Money could tempt Jake Paul to reverse his decision in the future. Jake Paul is not the next Bob Foster of the light heavyweight division, and he’s not a candidate for a regional or world title shot at cruiserweight. He’s a social media icon, and social media people like the nonsense and the controversy. It amounts to good publicity, and money for people like Paul who stage these overhyped media events who have millions of followers who follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sources.

Jake Paul seems a bit more disciplined and a bit wiser than Conor McGregor was at UFC257 when Dustin Poirier knocked him out. Paul is a big strong guy, but social media hype aside, Paul got what amounted to a split decision over a washed up UFC fighter at 39-years-old who had lost his last four UFC bouts before his contract was dropped.

Jake Paul has let the whole world know he is a retired boxer. Unless he wants to fight Oscar De La Hoya at cruiserweight, if De La Hoya wins his comeback at cruiserweight, I would say to Jake Paul retirement while you still have your faculties intact, before you take one fight too many with an opponent at 175 pounds who actually knows how to fight. Tommy Fury fight or the Tyron Woodley rematch are also 2 future options for Paul.
