Jonesboro, GA (June 24th, 2026)–  Former UFC fighter Dustin Poirier was arrested at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after being denied boarding on a Delta Air Lines flight for public intoxication. The incident escalated when he began screaming profanities at airline gate agents and challenged a responding police officer to a fight before being taken into custody. The airport confrontation and subsequent legal situation involved several key details.

The arrest occurred at Gate D36 on the evening of Sunday, June 21.  Poirier was booked into the Clayton County Jail and charged with misdemeanor public intoxication. He has since been released on bond.

The released police bodycam video shows a visibly agitated Poirier acting aggressively toward airport employees and explicitly telling an officer, “I’ll fight you right now”.

Poirier issued a public statement addressing the arrest, acknowledging his struggles with the transition into retirement and admitting that “alcohol isn’t the answer”. He noted he is at the point where he needs to seek help.

Dustin Poirier’s last professional fight was against Max Holloway on July 19, 2025, at UFC 318. Dustin lost by unanimous decision and finished his career at 30-10, 1NC.
