David Haye Seeks Fury-Joshua Winner, Heavyweight and WSOP Belts

Las Vegas, Nevada (April 27th, 2020)– David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye, Great Britain’s former world cruiserweight and heavyweight champion, is seeking a unique professional daily double of sorts. Haye, 28-4 with 26 knockouts, age 39, Bermondsey, United Kingdom, who boxed professionally between 2002 and 2018. The goals he has now set for himself are nothing short of impossible, but then again, nothing in this world is impossible, just highly unlikely.
Even so, Haye wants to be the next World Series of Poker champion (if and when that tournament is held again, in 20020 or 2021), and also to regain the world heavyweight championship. Haye is currently concentrating on honing his advancing card playing skills to become the next overall WSOP champion in Las Vegas. Haye finished 40th in a tournament overall in the 2019 World Series of Poker, he 50th annual tournament, which took place from May 28 to July 16, 2019, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. There were 90 bracelet events involving over nine thousand competitors. David Haye has also stated he will return to boxing only if guaranteed the winner of an Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury super fight, which would mean two back to back British super fights.
Haye has been plagued by injuries in the past. A torn Achilles tendon sustained during his first fight with Tony Bellew forced him to fight on one leg in both Bellew bouts, and ultimately led to his retirement. According to Haye, “All my injuries have healed up. There’s been no hardcore training. I’ve been at home with my weights.” Anthony Joshua must meet International Boxing Federation number one contender and mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev next. That could change if Deontay Wilder must pull out of his third match with Tyson Fury and steps aside temporarily due to injury, and opens the door to Fury versus Anthony Joshua.
2020 is a strange year, with the coronavirus pandemic shutting the door of professional boxing, with only one boxing card held in the past five weeks. The future of boxing could depend on a number of high publicity mega-fight putting boxing back on the map. In terms of the heavyweight division, Tyson Fury, Joshua, Wilder, Pulev, and Andy Ruiz Jr. at the top of the heap. David Haye wants back in the mix. From a critical perspective, Haye needs a few comeback fights to test his ‘recovery’ from injury, before going for the top. Haye has to prove he is physically capable to return to peak form. Words don’t do it. In Las Vegas, and in life, the ability to play poker is not by itself good enough to be a champion. David Haye may find the comeback road a rough climb in both boxing and poker.
