Kenton Sippio-Cook (6-2-0, 4 Kos) of Austin, Texas will be fighting for the vacant UBF NortheasternMiddleweight title on a CES undercard scheduled for September 18, 2015 at Twin River Casino in Rhode Island. He’s walking into the territory of well known, hot prospect Khiary “Too Sharp” Gray Pitts (8-0-0, 6 Ko’s) from Worcester, Massachusetts. I interviewed Gray Pitts recently about this bout and now I wanted to get Sippio-Cook’s thoughts and game plan leading up to the fight.

Pattee Mak: This is your first time fighting for a belt also. What does this mean to you?
Sippio-Cook: This means the world to me. It’s an amazing opportunity and the spark I need in my journey to the top.
Pattee Mak: You will be traveling to his familiar territory. What will be your game plan that nite?
Sippio-Cook: Yes, we will be traveling to foreign territory for my team and I, but we know what we need and come to do, and that’s leave with my belt.
Pattee Mak: What do you know about Gray Pitts?
Sippio-Cook:I’ve seen a little bit of his work, but in honesty it’s not about what he can do. It’s how he can deal with what I can do.
Pattee Mak: When I asked your opponent, “What do you know if anything about him [Sippo-Cook]? His reply, “I have never seen him in action but I’ve seen small clips of him. He has a chin. He will come to fight. That’s what I want but people will be surprised come September 18th”. Is this an accurate statement and would you like to add more?
Sippio-Cook:Ha ha. All I’ll say is ask him the question again post-fight and see the difference in the answer.
Pattee Mak: Hmmm well then… I’m definitely going to have myself glued to this fight.
Pattee Mak: You are coming off of two losses. The last was against Wes Capper (9-1-0) and you lost by UD. The judges scored the bout 73-79; 75-77 and 78-79. Do you feel this is an accurate account? Was there something you could have done differently during the fight? Also has the loss affected your training in the sense that your trainer is adjusting your training leading up to this fight?
Sippio-Cook:For my last fight I should have been more aggressive, it was clear they weren’t accustomed to seeing a fighter throw and land more blows going backwards. The fight just brought to light areas we needed to work on in my camp. My last two fights have taught me a tremendous amount, and I will showcase that September 18th.
Pattee Mak: Who is currently training you and where are you currently training at?
Sippio-Cook: My trainer is Todd Subocz. We train at Richard Lord’s Gym in Austin, Texas.
Pattee Mak: You have fought tougher opponents than Gray Pitts and this bout is scheduled to go 6 rounds. You have gone the distance to 8 rounds and Gray Pitts only 4. Do you feel this will be an advantage to you?
Sippio-Cook: It will play to my advantage yes, but I expect Pitts to prepare properly for the opposition ahead.
Pattee Mak: What would you like to say to Khiary and the people coming to watch this bout?
Sippio-Cook: To Pitts I say, thank you for the call. To the people coming to watch, I’m Austin’s Own Kenton Sippio-Cook. #WWW Watch Wait & Witness we are the #WorkSquad.
Pattee Mak: Thanks so much for this interview. I see a ton of confidence in you and I’m looking forward to this fight. I will see you on the 18th and I wish you the best of luck.
