Irish Eyes Are Smiling! Will Rosinsky Comeback Lights Up Madison Square Garden Card

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

New York, NY (March 16th, 2015)– Will Rosinsky made a successful comeback after two years inactivity due to completing his probationary period to become a New York City Firefighter. In the preliminary to the main event of an Irish themed 10 bout Pro-Am card at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night promoted by Lou DiBella Entertainment, March 14, 2015, Rosinsky, now 18-2, 10 knockouts, Ozone Park, New York, made short work of in shape but faded Massachusetts journeyman Paul Gonzalves, 7-6-1. Gonzalves, a former two time Southern New England Golden Gloves champion, is now winless in his last four bouts in the past eight months, losing three bouts to main event opposition, and drawing a winless fighter.

Rosinsky took the bout at light heavyweight, summed up the abilities of his limited opponent within 30 seconds, got down to bodywork basics, and dropped Gonzalves four times in the first round with pinpoint power shots to the body. Gonzalves got up each time, but after the fourth round the referee waved the bout off. The differences in the abilities of the fighters was considerable, and prolonging the massacre would have been senseless.

In the post fight interview (which will appear on Real Combat Media separately) Rosinsky stated he would not fight at 175 pounds again, and is going back to 160 to 168 pounds middleweight or super middleweight in the future. Rosinsky expects to fight again in May.

Will Rosinsky TKO 1 Paul Gonzales, Light Heavyweights (2:59)
Rosinsky dropped Gonzalves four times in first round with body shots, forcing stoppage.

In the main event, featherweight contender Patrick Hyland allowed shorter southpaw Manuel De Los Reyes Herrera to run for one round in circles around the ring. Hyland began cutting off the ring in round two, forcing the game outmatched Herrera to fight heated exchanges off the ropes. A continued body attack by Hyland forced the limited Herrera to one knee in the fourth round, where the exhausted journeyman got counted out.

Hyland is now 30-1, 14 knockouts, Dublin, Ireland. Herrera fell to 21-16-1, 15 knockouts, Planet Rica, Columbia.

Result: Irish Patrick Hyland KO 4 Manuel De Los Reyes Herrera, Featherweights (1:04)
Herrera took a knee after a body shot and was counted out in the fourth.

In the opening professional bout on the Pro-Am card, Irish Gary O’Sullivan of Cork, Ireland, also known as ‘Spike’, went to 20-1, 13 knockouts, with a third round stoppage of Milton Nunez, 28-13-1, 25 knockouts, Barranquilla, Columbia. Nunez trained hard for the bout, came in top condition and actually tried to win, forcing some hard power shot exchanges with O’Sullivan for three rounds. O’Sullivan drew distance range and meticulously outworked Nunez, who was swinging widely and getting hit too much. Nunez went down in the third round and got up. Later, O’Sullivan landed a power shot to the face of Nunez, sending him backwards off the ropes, out on his feet, forcing the stoppage.

Result: Gary O’Sullivan TKO 3 Milton Nunez, Middleweights (2:20)
Nunez was down in third round. Bout stopped after Nunez punched in face and staggered.
