HANNA GABRIEL, IN A WORLD TITLE FIGHT, ADDED TO TRIPLE CROWN WITH MCJOE ARROYO, ROCKY MARTINEZ AND CHELO GONZALEZ ON DECEMBER 20 AT EL SAN JUAN RESORT AND CASINO IN PUERTO RICO
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO– Former World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior middleweight female champion Hanna Gabriel will face Mexican Paty Ramirez for the vacant 154 pounds WBO belt in the Triple Crown show, to take place on December 20, at the International Ballroom of El San Juan Resort and Casino in Isla Verde, Carolina, Puerto Rico, which will be broadcast on DIRECTV Pay Per View.
“We added a world title fight for this Triple Crown, with Hanna Gabriel, who returns in search of the world title that belonged to her. So we have a world title elimination bout, a female world title fight and two regional title fights in this great event,” said promoter Ivan Rivera, president of PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP).
Hanna Gabriel (13-1-1, 9 KOs) is a former WBO welterweight and junior middleweight champion who has not fought since February 28, 2013 when she lost her title against Oxandia Castillo. During her inactivity, Gabriel became the mother of a girl in her native Costa Rica. In Puerto Rico, Gabriel will attempt to recover her WBO junior middleweight belt when she face Paty Ramirez (10-1, 5 KOs). For Gabriel this will be the second time she fights in Puerto Rico. On May 29, 2010 she won the WBO junior middleweight title when she beat Gardy Pena by TKO.
In the main event, 2008 Puerto Rican Olympian McJoe Arroyo (15-0, 8 KOs) will face the Filipino Mark Anthony Geraldo (31-4-3, 14 KOs) in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) elimination bout in the super flyweights (115 pounds), Arroyo is the #2 ranked and Geraldo is ranked #9 by the IBF at 115 pounds.
Also in the show former two time WBO junior lightweight champion, Roman “Rocky” Martinez (27-2-2, 16 KOs) returns to the ring when he faces an opponent to be determined for a 135 pounds regional title.
In another fight, former world title challenger Chelo Gonzalez (22-1, 17 KOs), will face an opponent to be announced for a regional title at the lightweight division.
