Meet Boxing Promoter Mike Tetteh, The Don King of Ghana

He is known is his country as ‘The Don King of Ghana’. In 1997, businessman Mike Tetteh began working in boxing promotion. In July 2003, Tetteh formed Goldenmike Boxing Promotions, which is well known in Ghana and throughout the African continent. With 34 claimed successful boxing promotions to his credit, Tetteh was named boxing promoter of the year in Ghana in 2010 and 2011. He hopes in the future to do boxing promotions in the United States, Canada Mexico, Great Britain, Germany and Japan.

 

According to BoxRec, Tetteh has matched four events and promoted nine events, the most recent being a seven bout card held in Accra on May 3, 2013, in which his 26-0 cruiserweight contender Bukom Bantu stopped George Tevdorashvili in the sixth round.

Boxers in Tetteh’s promotional stable include in my stable include Bukom Bantu AKA Braimah Kamoko, Joshua Okine, Samuel Amoako, Ishmael Aryeetey, Bastie Samir, Issah Samir, Charles Adamu, Isaac Quartey, Ishmael Tetteh, Bilhal Mohammed, and Prince Doku Jr.

 

Tetteh’s favorite boxers include Muhammed Ali, Marvin Hagler, Floyd Mayweather Jnr., Saul Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad and Ghana’s very own Azumah Nelson.
