By: Eliezer Garcia

UNCASVILLE, Conn (December 20, 2012)– Sergey Kovalev has been building a reputation of being one of the strongest finishers in the light heavyweight division.

Kovalev (22-0-1 18 KOs) step up against former titlist Gabriel Campillo (21-5-1,7 KOs) on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena, also known as the “Krusher” left the ring with an explosive third-round TKO.

Kovale a native of Chelyabinsk, Russia, who fought out of Fort Lauderdale FL., wasted no time on using combination punches to back Campillo up against the ropes. Campillo came into the fight looking dry and was walking into many right hands that continuously snap his head back. Early in the third-round Kovale managed to land a perfect left hook that stunned Campillo back into the ropes. After the third knock down, which was followed by a furious right hand, referee Michael Ortega stopped the fight.

“He has a good defense, every time I hit him he would block my punch, but I saw a target every time he came in swimming with punches” Said Kovalev

As for the co main event, Curtis Stevens (23-3,17 KOs), 27, a native of Brownsville in Brooklyn, NY., came in looking extremely sharp and ended the night early with a counter left hook that sent, Ayala (26-6-1,12KOs) to the canvas.

Aft the fight was stopped in the first minute of the opening round, a member of the crowd ran into the ring attacking Stevens from behind, causing a unnecessary street riot in the ring.
