Glenn Foot takes Prizefighter crown!
By: Callum Meads
Hull, UK (20th January, 2013) – The unbeaten Glenn Foot emerged victorious from a tightly contest Prize-fighter competition at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall last night. The Sunderland fighter won a close decision against Dale Evans in the final, with his powerful work rate seeming to impress the judges. Foot also beat Steven Pearce and Chad Gaynor on his way to picking up the £32,000 cash prize. The powerful Welterweight now has his eyes firmly set on the British title.
The competition included several unbeaten fighters and a number of back and forth actions fights that delighted the audience in attendance. Dale Evans and Sam Eggington produced a great fight in the second quarter final of the competition, with the highly touted Dale Evans eventually losing in the final. The fight saw both fighters land clean and powerful punches. The inexperienced Sam Eggington fought until the last seconds of the fight and gave a great account of himself despite losing the contest.
In a separate contest on the card, unbeaten prospect Kal Yafai put another impressive beating on an overmatched opponent, who couldn’t come out for the the 6th round of the fight. Gonzalo Garcia surrendered on his stool and handed victory to Yafai. Garcia was hammered with hard shots to the head and body throughout the fight, it was only a matter of time before his corner or the referee stepped in. This time, he decided to stop it himself.
