Las Vegas , Nevada — The fight went on as scheduled even though Brandon Rios(30-0-1, 22 KOs) failed to make weight yet again in a championship fight. This time around it was against Richard Abril(17-3-1, 8 KOs).
In the opening round Abril moved side to side, slipping his jab and fighting tall.
Second round was more of the same with Abril fighting from a distance but Rios was closing in landing a couple of power shots. Rios became successful closing the gab and landing his uppercut in the third.
Abril came back in the fourth bouncing off his legs connecting with his right hand and utilizing his jab.
The fifth round belonged to Abril once again by turning Rios, controling the jab, and showing a good guard. Halfway through the bout Abril is dominating keeping Rios at the end of his jab.
The start of the second half was not much different than the first. Abril showing great ring generalship sneaking in right hands. Rios was looking sluggish in round eight while Abril follows his gameplan displaying his boxing ability throwing jabs and keeping his defense tight.
Round nine was not any better for Rios. Rios coming forward is taylor made for the counter hitting Abril at this point. Rios is not doing much just plodding forward throwing one punch at a time.
Abril is looking real confident repeating everything he has been doing up to the tenth round.
By the eleventh, Rios got desperate throwing illegal shots getting warned by referee Vic Drakulich as Abril is landing his jab and displaying defensive artwork. The final round saw Abril doing much of the same he had done in the fight while Rios was looking for a lucking punch.
Rios was awarded a split decision by scores of 116-112, 111-117,115-113. The decision was horrible. Rios won maybe three rounds at the most. It was the worst robbery in years ! Hopefully this decision will be investigated. The boxing fans deserve an explanation .

La pelea continuó como estaba previsto a pesar de que Brandon Ríos (30-0-1-22KOs) no pudo hacer el peso una vez más en una pelea de campeonato. Esta vez fue en contra de Richard Abril (17-3-1-8KOs). En la ronda de apertura Abril moverse de lado a lado, deslizando su jab y la pelea contra la altura.
Segunda ronda fue más de lo mismo con Abril a pelear a distancia, pero Ríos se acercaba el aterrizaje de un par de golpes de poder. Ríos se convirtió en éxito el cierre de la elocuencia y el aterrizaje de su gancho en el tercero. Abril volvió en el cuarto rebotando en las piernas de conexión con su mano derecha y utilizando su jab.
La quinta ronda pertenecía a Abril, una vez más, girando Ríos, controlando el jab, y mostrando un buen guardián. A mitad de la pelea de Abril está dominando mantener Ríos al final de su jab.
El comienzo de la segunda mitad no fue muy diferente que la primera. Abril muestra el generalato gran anillo a escondidas en la mano derecha. Ríos estaba buscando lento en la octava ronda, mientras sigue su plan de juego Abril mostrando su capacidad de boxeo lanzar jabs y mantener su defensa apretada.
Novena ronda no fue mejor para los Ríos. Ríos viene hacia adelante es Taylor hizo para el contador de Abril de bateo en este momento. Ríos fue galardonado con una decisión dividida por las puntuaciones de 116-112, 111-117,115-113. La decisión fue horrible. Ríos ganó tal vez tres rondas a lo sumo. Fue el peor robo en años! Esperemos que esta decisión será investigado. Los fanáticos del boxeo merecen una explicación.
