“King” David Estrada boasts a record of record 25-6 (16) Kos. This tough Chicago native wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but instead came from very humble beginnings. He didn’t have a legendary amateur career to begin with, but what he has done is execute his craft with pride, nobility, and passion. He is supremely agile and was born to make this earth shake. We had the pleasure of a brief interview with this pugilist of boxing royalty.

Take a moment to read about what we learned from this solid veteran who has given a “who’s who” in boxing some very tough fights!

TD: King David, my man, how are you?
KD: I’m doing good could be better…could be worse too, lol..
TD: Yup, I heard that.

TD: I believe you are best known for your more than terrific fight with Kermit Cintron, but, hey, you tell me; who is the best pro you’ve ever been in there with?
KD: Kermit, Mosley, Berto; they’re all great fighters I’ve been in there with.

TD: So you are a Chicago native, what made you get into the sport of boxing?
KD: Yeah, I’m from Chi, I love and rep my city to the fullest! I got Love for Miami too, though that’s my second home. I got into boxing cause I wanted to be like my grandfather and two uncles they were all boxers just never turned pro.

TD: Favorite boxer?
KD: My favorite boxer of all time is Roberto Duran!
TD: Manos de piedras! Oh yeah, much respect no doubt.

TD: I’m guessing that a lot of casual boxing fans would just think you are Mexican, but you are Guatemalan correct?
KD: Mexican & Guatemalan go to Guate at least once a year; I love the motherland and am proud of my roots. Don’t know my Mexican fam, but am proud of my Mexican blood too.

TD: I think a majority of fans also feel you were robbed by Abregu. Was that a hard loss to stomach?
KD: Everybody knows the loss to Abregu was BULLSHIT! They’re scared to give me a rematch.
TD: Hey, I’m with you champ. I don’t know what fight they were watching?

TD: Well, as of right now you are on Fire! You stopped the last 3 guys they put you in with including undefeated Mexican top prospect Orlando Lora, you planning on making another title run?
KD: Yup, 3 KO’s in a row! I will make another run at the title.

TD: An arbitrational hearing between you and your promotional group, Boxing 360, was held recently. A lot of pros go through something similar once or twice in their careers, is it all business?
KD: The thing with Boxing 360 is a mess I’ll leave it at that.
TD: Now you’re a good 5’9” and hold your weight well, any plans on moving up a division if need be?
KD: I’ll still fight at welterweight for now but will move to 154 in the future.
TD: Sounds good.

TD: Ok Champ, tell us before you leave a few fight predictions. Mosley vs Canelo and Floyd vs Cotto?
KD: Don’t know about Shane and Canelo, should be interesting, but I got Floyd over Cotto.

TD: Hey Champ thanks for your time and I myself and the Realcombatmedia.com team wish you all the best! Thanks for blessing us with the visit.
KD: No Problem Tommy, good looking out…I want to give a shout out to all my fans for being loyal, Angelo Dundee R.I.P. Get ready for the takeover!!!!

Not every King was born into a royal family or has ties to the Pope, but in this case David Estrada was put here to become a fighter and Champion. If you look in his eyes he has the want and ambition to fulfill his destiny. The Arabic translation of “David” is beloved and that was the title of the 2nd King of the United Kingdom of Israel – King David.  If there ever were a King with such power in his command and lust for life it was this mighty King of 3000 years ago. Today there is another one who has the same passion and desire. He is one of the people, our people in the boxing community. He is “King” David Estrada, Chicago’s shining star ready to do battle and earn his people’s respect.

Until next time boxing fanatics, I’m Tommy Dangerously signing off…
