London, UK (July 10th, 2026)– Former World Heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr., looking to make a new run at the world heavyweight championship, has signed a multi-bout promotional contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.

Other heavyweights currently signed to Matchroom Boxing who Ruiz joins include: former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua; top ten Croatian world-ranked contender Filip Hrgović; popular undefeated British heavyweight prospect Johnny Fisher; Australian heavyweight contender Justis Huni; Longtime British heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte; Australian heavyweight prospect Teremoana Junior; rising British teenage heavyweight Leo Atang; and experienced Australian southpaw contender Demsey McKean.

In an official statement, Ruiz explained, “I’m so happy and thankful for signing with Matchroom to continue my mission and to become a two-time champion of the world for Mexico. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I’m so grateful God is giving me a second opportunity to do everything right. Sometimes God breaks you to make you a better person and a better fighter. I made history with Matchroom and DAZN, and best believe we are going to do it again. Thank you to all my coaches for still believing in me. We are going to make a big statement in the heavyweight division.”

Ruiz, 35-2-1 with 22 knockouts, age 36, Imperial, California, has not won a bout in nearly four years and has been out of the ring for almost 24 months. He last fought to a 12-round majority draw with Jarrell Miller in Los Angeles in August 2024. Talks are currently underway with Top Rank for his next rumored comeback opponent, ‘The Polish Hussar’, former World Boxing Council world title challenger Damian Knyba, 17-1 with 11 knockouts, fighting out of New Jersey by way of Bydgoszcz, Poland, at The Prudential Center in Newark on September 4, 2026, in the main event.
