Valentina Shevchenko vs. Alexa Grasso is Official for UFC 285
Las Vegas, NV (January 19th, 2023)– Undisputed UFC flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko will attempt to remain queen of the division at 125lbs on March 4. at UFC 285, booking an undisputed title fight against the surging #4 ranked challenger, Alexa Grasso at the T-Mobile Arena pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Shevchenko, the current undisputed flyweight champion, improved to 9-0 at the flyweight limit back in June of last year at UFC 275 in Singapore, defeating Brazilian contender, Taila Santos in a close, split decision victory in Kallang.
As for Grasso, the streaking Mexican fighter turned in a unanimous decision win over Viviane Araujo in the main event of UFC Vegas 62 last October. The victory came as Lobo Gym mainstay, Grasso’s fourth consecutive since her flyweight move. ESPN Deportes reporter, Carlos Contreras Legaspi reported Valentina Shevchenko’s return against Alexa Grasso in March.
23-3 as a professional, Valentina Shevchenko, a former bantamweight title challenger, made the flyweight division move back in 2018, defeating Priscila Cachoeira in dominant fashion that year.
Clinching the vacant flyweight title in a win over former strawweight queen, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, before racking up victories against Jessica Eye, Liz Carmouche, Katlyn Chookagian, Jennifer Maia, Jessica Andrade, Lauren Murphy, and most recently, Santos.
At the bantamweight limit beyond a pair of defeats to champion, Amanda Nunes, Shevchenko landed victories over former division champions, Holly Holm, and Julianna Peña.
15-3 as a professional, Grasso, an alum of the Shannon Knapp-led Invicta FC, has dropped defeats to just Felice Herrig, Tatiana Suarez, and former strawweight champion, Carla Esparza during her professional career.
Amongst her list of UFC wins, Grasso has defeated Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Maycee Barber, and last year, both Joanne Wood and Araujo.
UFC 285 takes place on March 4. from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with a vacant heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane set to take main event honors.
