We Will Win This Fight Says Mayor Vitali Klitschko as Battle of Kyiv Rages. Wladimir Klitschko Asks West For More Defensive Equipment

Kyiv, Ukraine (March 26th, 2022)– As the battles of Kyiv and Mariupol rage nonstop in Ukraine, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, in a new video, vowed Ukraine “We will win this fight!” In doing so, Mayor Vitali invoked the memory of the famed Scottish-American Revolutionary War commander John Paul Jones, who stated as the legendary battle between his American ship ‘Bonhomme Richard’ and the British ship Serapis continued, “I have not yet begun to fight!”

“We will win this fight. I am more than sure the Russians will never come (reach) our hometown, to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. We (Ukrainians) fight for our principles, for our children, that’s why. We are ready to die to defend our cities!”

Vitali and his brother Wladimir Klitschko, the Klitschko brothers, both former world heavyweight champions, continue to call on Western nations and powers to support Ukraine in all way possible, through stronger ongoing sanctions against the Russian Federation or by sending military equipment to enable and fortify the Ukrainian defenses, which are scattered throughout the country in uncivilized hand to hand combat battles, and missiles falling from the sky. For them, the war in Ukraine goes beyond the country’s disputed borders. The Klitschkos believe they are fighting not just to protect democracy and Ukraine, but to protect a democratic Europe as well, and to protect the concept of freedom and democratic principles for all mankind.

In an interview 48 hours ago with CNN, Vitali explained why he was committed to fight for his home and homeland. “This is our homeland. We have to be here. We understand it’s our land. We understand it’s our future. It’s (for) our freedom. We’re ready to fight for that, but………..we need (more) support now from the whole democratic (Western free) world.”

With our friends, we are much stronger,” Vitali said, in part referring to and thanking United States President Joe Biden, with whom he has a good personal relationship. “Unity around Ukraine is a (our key to) key for freedom, It’s a key for peace in our home country. It’s very important to have friends who support Ukraine and one more time thank you so much for (your) ongoing support.”

His brother, Wladimir Klitschko explained “Our roots are here, our relatives are buried in the ground here, in Kyiv. Our relatives, our friends, every single street brings back memories. We need support and help from our allies. We need a lot, and it’s (what we receive is) almost never enough. We definitely need to close our sky. Our civilians and our cities are getting destroyed, and it’s continuing while we’re giving this interview and speaking about it. The fights are still going on. If you supply us with defensive weapons, we’re going to (we can) close the skies on our own.  We have enough men and women that (who) are going to stand for the country, and will defend it as strongly, and as much as possible. We’re going to close the sky on our own. We just need the defensive equipment for that.” Regarding cutting economic ties and sanctions, Wladimir added “Obviously the world needs oil and gas, but it’s better to pay (a) higher price than to pay with lives for that oil. One more time, anything that you economically do in trade, or exchange with Russia, you’re getting products, you’re getting gas, oil, the ruble, whatever it is, just stop doing it. You will save lives.”
