Hagåtña, Guam (November 17th, 2021)–Undefeated 2-0 welterweight MMA fighter Akmal “AK47′ Kohoziev, age 27, who fights MMA for team Paradise Fitness, has been arrested in his native Guam and charged with first-degree murder and second-degree aggravated assault after confessing to the murder of Dr. Miran Ribati, a radiologist at Guam Memorial Hospital Authority. It appears the two men knew each other from local gym Steel Athletics and were dining together in an apartment at the time of the murder.

A witness reported Khozhiev and Ribati had an argument about COVID-19 vaccines. However, the precise nature of the vaccine dispute is not clear. As boxing fans and the whole world knows, the relative isolation and mask safety protocols of the Covid-19 Novel Coronavirus time period worldwide is a difficult and sensitive time for many, in particular those who have lost friends and loved ones.

Kohoziev has not yet entered a plea. Police say after arguing with Dr. Ribati, Khozhiev then choked Dr. Ribati, took him down onto the ground, and used his legs to restrain Ribati’s arms while he continued to choke him. Khozhiev let Ribati go after a witness intervened to stop the conflict. The witness said Khozhiev hit him twice in the head, then retrieved an animal bone that was left over from dinner, and repeatedly stabbed Ribati in the neck with the bone. The witness stated Ribati tried to run away. Khozhiev then produced a knife and stabbed Ribati multiple times with that weapon, who subsequently died.

With a population of 169 thousand people, Guam is an organized, unincorporated territory of the United States in the Micronesia subregion of the western Pacific Ocean. It is the westernmost point and territory of the United States; in Oceania, it is the largest and southernmost of the Mariana Islands, and the largest island in Micronesia. Guam’s capital is Hagåtña.
