FLOYD MAYWEATHER 2020 POSSIBLE OPPONENTS?

Editorial By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Only recently, Floyd Mayweather Jr. said he was done with the brutal sport of boxing. Floyd, 50-0 with 27 knockouts, Las Vegas, Nevada, who has won world titles in five divisions, will be joining promotional forces with UFC President Dana White as he will be making a comeback in 2020.

 Who could Floyd fight?

Floyd could fight Manny Pacquiao again, who defeated Keith Thurman and Adrien Broner in 2019. Floyd could fight UFC star Khalib Nurmagomedov or Conor McGregor in a rematch.  The Floyd formula worked for selling tickets and pay-per-views when he fought Conor McGregor in 2017. Floyd could also crossover to MMA. Floyd’s health is his wealth, and he has had a great career, but at age 42, Floyd is not what he once was. As the Floyd comeback story develops further in the next month or two, it would depend on who Floyd intends to fight. Only Floyd knows the true extent of his present condition, the physical conditioning and mental discipline required for a comeback. Oscar De La Hoya also ash expressed an interest in getting a rematch with Floyd, to whom he lost a split decision years ago.

It’s all about the money. $$$. Ching ching ching. Truth be told, outside of the heavyweight division, Floyd is the biggest draw in the lower weights since Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has also called out for a rematch with Floyd. Ultimately, the fight which Floyd will make, whether real or exhibition, will determine of which opponent the public depends and will pay the most money for. It’s that simple. Whoever the fighter is who gets picked, in any case, Floyd’s abilities should never be underestimated. This reporter supports a Floyd comeback if he is fully prepared for it, and depending on who Floyd is going to fight, which remains undetermined if and when Floyd’s comeback does take place next year in 2020, probably in Las Vegas.
