Dynamite! Undefeated Mystery Heavyweight Daniel Dubois Calls Out Anthony Joshua

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

At the age of 21, undefeated 10-0 British heavyweight Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois, 10-0 with nine knockouts, London, United Kingdom, is calling out World Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to replace Jarrell Miller.

Daniel who?

A 69-6 amateur, Dubois is scheduled to fight 14-1 Richard Lartey at Wembley Arena in London on April 27, 2019, in a 10 rounder. Dubois stated he never backs out of a fight. Dubois also stated Jarrell Miller’s being scared was the probable cause for his cheating by using illegal substances. While other names such as Andy Ruiz Jr. and Michael Hunter (who is scheduled to fight in Maryland on May 27, 2019) have been floated as possible replacements for Anthony Joshua’s Madison Square Garden debut on June 1, 2019.

Daniel Dubois could figure into the equation if promoter Eddie Hearn decides he cannot find anybody else. Like a young Cassius Clay versus Sonny Liston, Dubois figures he has as good a chance as any to pull off the upset of Joshua, if Dubois has the right amount of time to prepare, the right sparring and the right teamwork. With time short to find Joshua a replacement and save the pay-per-view, Dubois has admitted the training camp would have to be perfect, but he would be happy to step up to the plate and accept the Anthony Joshua challenge. Dubois won a 10 round decision over former heavyweight contender Kevin Johnson last year, would be a decided underdog. It is unknown if Dubois fights as scheduled Saturday and wins, whether there would be enough turnaround time to prepare for Joshua. Dubois had an amateur record of 69-6 before turning pro in April 2017.
