WARD VS. BRAND WEIGH-IN VIDEO AND PREVIEW

Oakland, CA (August 5th, 2016)– Former super middleweight kingpin Andre Ward (29-0, 15KOs) will seek to further test his strength at light heavyweight against tough veteran Alexander Brand (25-1, 19KOs) at Oracle Arena this Saturday, August 6 on HBO.

The bout will give Ward a chance to improve on a ho-hum UD win over Sullivan Barrera in March, as the suddenly active Ward looks to make a statement following WBC champ Adonis Stevenson’s spectacular 5th round KO of Thomas Williams.

“Superman” has longed for a shot at the “S.O.G” and/or  WBO, WBA, and IBF light heavyweight dragon Sergey Kovalev Ward. If Ward beats Brand, it sets up a showdown between Ward and Kovalev this November; with the winner presumably facing the powerful Stevenson.

Rap mogul Jay-Z and ROC Nation would like nothing more than for Ward to show Brand worth, before getting him out of there in impressive fashion on the same network he calls fights.

Ward should stop the dangerous- but ancient Brand, who at 39, will lack the athleticism and endurance to hang with Ward’s complicated version of violent chess. The pick here is Andre Ward via 9th round TKO, in front of a crowd that will include 2-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry.
