By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Here are some of the weird and strange boxing stories of the week.

Former heavyweight champion Charles Martin is in the hospital after getting shot in the forearm in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday morning at 5 A.M. Two men approached Martin’s vehicle and began shooting, and Martin fled in his card, but crashed into a utility pole. The men came back and shot Martin in his car. He would up fleeing into the back of a pickup truck in a pool of blood, where police later rescued him.

Moroccan boxer Hassan Saada, 22, has been arrested by Brazilian police over allegations of sexually assaulting two female cleaners in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic village. Saada, is being held on suspicion of committing the assaults earlier this week, a police statement said. The boxer, who fights in the light heavyweight division, is expected to miss his amateur Olympic bouts this week.

Phillip Ndou, a former super featherweight champion who once fought Floyd Mayweather Jr., beat up three South African officials last Friday after his boxing license did not receive medical clearance, and he was told his scheduled bout would not take place. He was charged with assault to do bodily harm, and was released on R1000 bail. Ndou fought Mayweather for the WBC World Lightweight title in 2003.

Tattooed Shelly Vincent, who will face Heather Hardy in a ten round female featherweight boxing match on August 21, 2016, in Coney Island Brooklyn, showed up for a photo pose off with Hardy wearing another strange smiley mask.
