On Saturday, Oct. 17, the “Mecca of Boxing,” Madison Square Garden, will host two additional stellar world title matchups as undefeated Cuban heavyweight Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz (22-0, 19 KOs) takes on Matias Ariel “El Matador” Vidondo (20-1-1, 18 KOs) for the Interim WBA Heavyweight World Title and middleweight standout Tureano Johnson (18-1, 13 KOs) is set to face Eamonn “King Kane” O’Kane (14-1-1, 5 KOs) in an IBF Middleweight World Title Eliminator. Both bouts, scheduled for 12-rounds, will be featured on the televised undercard of the Middleweight World Championship Title Unification bout between WBC, IBO and WBC “Interim” Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and IBF Middleweight Champion David Lemieux. The championship event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-Viewbeginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
The winner of the Johnson-O’Kane bout will become the mandatory challenger for the IBF Middleweight Championship being contested in the main event between Golovkin and Lemieux.
Previously announced, in the co-featured bout of the Pay-Per-View telecast, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez will defend his WBC Flyweight Championship against two-time former world champion Brian Viloria.

International Boxing Hall of Fame Boxer Michael “Jinx” Spinks to Host Meet & Greet
Another night full of boxing will hit the Coachella Valley on October 23 from the famed Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and live on Estrella TV’s Boxeo Estelar. Headlining the event, undefeated featherweight sensation Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr.(17-0, 10 KOs) will battle against Mexican brawler, Ruben “Canelito” Tamayo (23-6-4, 15 KOs) in the 10-round featherweight bout. Joining the action packed night, International Hall of Fame Boxer Michael “Jinx” Spinks will host a special meet and greet at the Special Events Arena from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fans with tickets to the event will be able to meet the 1976 Olympic medalist and former two division world champion, before televised fights.
In the co-main event of the evening, Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez (18-0, 13 KOs) is set to face Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico’s Jorge “Pantera” Silva (19-9-2, 15 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight fight sure to add excitement to the night.
As part of the live stream on Ring TV, Paul Ritter (0-1) of Newport, Calif. will face Relanzo Richard Jr. of Lancaster, Calif. who is set to make his professional debut in a four-round battle of heavyweight giants. Alberto Fundora (5-0, 2 KOs) of Coachella, Calif. is scheduled to take onRichard Romero (1-0), and also as part of the live streaming event, St. Louis’ KeAndre Gibson(13-0, 5 KOs) will be looking to keep his perfect record intact in a scheduled eight-round super lightweight contest against Phoenix’ Freddy Lopez (10-2, 7 KOs).
Entering the professional ring for the first time in a four-round bout will be Las Vegas super lightweight Marco Magdaleno, who faces fellow debutant Phillip Bounds of Lancaster, and in the four-round welterweight opener, Glendale’s Melsik Baghdasaryan (2-0, 1 KO) takes on LA’s Diego Padilla (1-1). Mexican fighter Pedro “Roca” Campa (18-0, 14 KOs) will make his U.S. and LA FIGHT CLUB debut on Friday, November 6 as he puts his undefeated record on the line against seasoned fighter and Angeleno Miguel Angel “El Anestesista” Huerta (28-13-1, 18 KOs) in a 10-round super lightweight main event bout live on Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV. Bouts will be televised nationally at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT and the non-televised undercard fights will be live streamed via The Ring TV’s Roku channel, www.ringtvlive.com and on The Ring TV’s YouTube channel. The live stream will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. PT through 7:00 p.m. PT.

Joet Gonzalez (12-0, 5 KOs) will be featured in an eight-round super bantamweight co-main event, as part of the Estrella TV telecast. Opening the telecast, newly signed prospect Hector “El Finito” Tanajara Jr. (2-0, 1 KO) of San Antonio, Texas, will make his third LA FIGHT CLUB appearance in a six-round lightweight bout. Featured on The Ring TV’s live stream is Eddie De La Huerta (2-0, 2 KOs) of Los Angeles in a four-round super featherweight bout and Damon Allen (7-0, 3 KOs) of Philadelphia in a six-round lightweight bout. Opening the night and The Ring TV’s live stream will be Alan Campa (13-2, 9 KOS) of Guaymas, Sonora Mexico facing off against Fabiano “Pit Bull” Pena (11-3-1, 8 KOs) of Los Angeles by way of Brazil, as they face off in a six-round super middleweight fight. Cotto vs. Canelo, a fight for the fans, has proven to be the hottest ticket in town for Las Vegas on Saturday, Nov. 21. The latest installment of LA FIGHT CLUB featured the next generation of boxing stars and kicked off the weekend of back-to-back fight nights in downtown Los Angeles, preceding the highly-anticipated
Lucas Matthysse vs. Viktor Postol card at the StubHub Center on
Saturday, October 3.
Kicking-off an action -packed weekend were some of boxing’s most notable champions such as Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Future Hall of Famer and Golden Boy Promotions Partner Bernard Hopkins and current IBF Bantamweight World Champion Randy Caballero. Making an appearance to cheer on Patrick Teixeira were members of Team Matthysse before their showdown the following night. Also in attendance were Golden Boy fighters, Jonathon Navarro, Hector Tanajara, Carlos Morales, Lamont Roach Jr., Ivan Delgado, and Jesus Soto Karass.
The Teixeira vs. Mouton battle thrilled the crowd, ending the card in an explosive crescendo in which Teixeira remained undefeated with the technical knockout victory.
In the co-main event of the evening, Golden Boy Promotions fighter Zachary “Zungry” Ochoa (13-0, 6 KOs) faced the tough Alejandro Rodriguez (24-19-1, 14 KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico in a scheduled eight-round welterweight bout. Ochoa blitzed Rodriguez knocking him down twice in the third round and forcing the ref to call a halt to the bout giving Ochoa another victory by way of technical knockout.
In the first televised bout of the evening on Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV, both fighters showed skill and tremendous will in the ring as Antonio Gutierrez (19-1-1, 8 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico took on Victor Fonseca(9-6-1, 7 KOs) in a six-round middleweight bout. The two fighters battled to the last second where Gutierrez earned a unanimous decision victory.
In the second fight of the evening, rising prospect Joshua Franco (2-0, 1 KO)faced off against Saul Hernandez (5-8-1 3 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico. Hernandez fought hard early, showcasing his aggression and solid defense, however Franco began to dominate the exchanges with his power finishing Hernandez in the third round, earning a technical knockout victory to remain unbeaten.

Fight fans were out in full force for a day of exciting fights at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Golden Boy Promotions in association with Arano Box Promotions, Top Rank, Inc. and ELITE Boxing Promotion presented an exciting lineup in front of a packed house of 7,025 fight fans. Live on HBO Boxing After Dark, the crowd was served up a slate of fights representing the different corners of the world.
The main event of the evening was a hard-fought face off between Chubut, Argentina’s Lucas “La Máquina” Matthysse (37-4, 34 KOs) and undefeated number one contender Viktor “The Iceman” Postol (28-0, 12 KOs) of Kiev, Ukraine for the vacant WBC Super Lightweight World Championship. With just seconds left in round ten, Matthysse was hit by Postol’s left uppercut cross that sent him to the ground, effectively ending
the match-up. Postol successfully defended his undefeated record and won the match in a knockout.
The co-main event of the night saw San Diego, California’s Antonio Orozco (23-0, 15 KOs) take onHumberto Soto (65-9-2, 35 KOs) of Los Mochis, Mexico in a brutal 10-round super lightweight fight. In the end Orozco emerged victorious with his undefeated record unmarred in a hard-fought unanimous decision.
In the first televised bout of the night, East Los Angeles, California’s Julian Ramirez (15-0, 8 KOs) facedHugo Partida (20-6-2, 15 KOs) of Mexico City, Mexico in a scheduled 10-round featherweight bout. The hard-fought bout ended with Julian Ramirez adding another win to his undefeated record in a unanimous decision.
The crowd went wild as Los Angeles’ very own Nick Arce (5-0, 5 KOs) took to the ring against Juan Hernandez (3-1) of Tijuana, Mexico in a scheduled six-round super featherweight fight. Arce’s undefeated record remains intact as he won the fight by yet another knockout.
In a scheduled ten-round lightweight fight, Mercito Gesta (29-1-2, 16 KO’s) of San Diego, California took onMiguel Angel Mendoza (21-7-2, 21 KOs) of Aguascalientes, Mexico. In one of the most exciting fights of the night, Gesta ultimately emerges victorious in a unanimous decision after ten dramatic rounds.
Marcelino Lopez (32-1-1, 17 KOs) of Buenos Aires, Argentina took on David Rodela (17-12-4, 7 KOs) of Oxnard, California in a scheduled eight-round super lightweight fight that Lopez won decisivelyby knockout.
D’Mitrius Ballard (10-0, 7 KOs) of Washington, DC faced Hayward,
California’s Juan Carlos Rojas (8-13-1, 7 KOs) in a scheduled six-round light heavyweight fight that Ballard ultimately won by unanimous decision.
Opening up the night, undefeated Kevin Rivers (12-1, 9 KOs) of Palmer Park, Maryland was upset byAlejandro Ochoa (7-10-2, 1KO) of Bell Gardens, California in a six-round super featherweight fight. Ochoa took home the win via majority decision.

A KING’S HOMECOMING
WBC Lightweight Champion Jorge Linares Defended his Title Against Ivan Cano in his First Fight in Venezuela Since 2010
Five months after one of the biggest victories of his professional career against Kevin Mitchell, WBC Lightweight World Champion Jorge “El Nino de Oro” Linares will celebrated by fighting in his native Venezuela for the first time in more than five years as he successfullydefended his title for the second time against Mexico’s Ivan “Macanon” Cano on Saturday, October 10.
The 12-round title fight, took place at The Poliedro de Caracas, and aired on ESPN Deportes & ESPN3.com was Linares’ first bout in his home country since a 10-round decision victory over Francisco Lorenzo on March 27, 2010.
