International Boxing Association President Dean Chance Dies at 74

International Boxing Association President Dean Chance, of Wooster, Ohio, who ran the IBA as a highly respectable boxing organization, died of a heart attack at home on October 11, 2015. He was 74 years old. Wikipedia states chance founded the IBA, but the IBA website refers to former World Heavyweight Champion Mike Weaver winning the IBA World Heavyweight title only three months before Chance purchased the IBA in 1994.
Chance was also the winner of the 1964 Cy Young Award as a pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, winning 20 games with an Earned Run Average of 1.65, both statistics being the best that season. Overall he pitched eleven season for the Angels, Twins, Indians, Tigers, and the Mets before his career ended in 1971. His career stats were 128 wins, 115 losses, and a career E.R.A. of 2.92.
Chances operated games of skills and chance at fairs and carnivals, employing hundreds. In August 2015, Dean Chance was inducted into the Angels Hall of Fame.
