Fast Eddie Chambers Still Fast in American Return, Kauffman Kayos Mendoza

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Atlantic City, NJ (September 19th, 2015)– After a two year absence fighting in the United Kingdom, former top ranked heavyweight ‘Fast’ Eddie Chambers made short work of ‘villain’ opponent Galen Brown, stopping him in the third round, in the preliminary bout to the main event of a seven bout card promoted by Marshall Kauffman’s King’s Promotions at Claridge Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Friday, September 18, 2015.

Chambers, 42-4, 23 knockouts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, had to deal with the mugging and taunting of Brown, 43-32-1 with 25 knockouts, Saint Joseph, Missouri, for three rounds of silliness. Dropping his hands and clowning around every time he got hit, Brown sought to agitate the pro-Chambers crowd and succeeded, triggering a chorus of boos with each smirk and smile. His taunt and bait emotional game began to sour in round two, when chambers decked Brown with two pinpoint right hands. In round three, Chambers beat senseless on the ropes, causing the referee to give a count as the ropes held Brown up. Chambers decked Brown when the action resume, ending the one-sided contest.

Chambers noted after the bout “I’ve been in England improving my punching skills. There’s nowhere like home though (being back in America). For me, I like guys who come forward when I want to punch. It makes me aggressive and throw more punches. He (Galen Brown) played into my hands. I would like to fight Deontay Wilder. I’ve been to the top. It’s a matter of staying on top. It’s all about having a good camp. I feel a rush of energy. I feel good.”

Result: Eddie Chambers TKO 3 Galen Brown, Heavyweights
Chambers is credited with knockdowns of Brown in round two and twice in round three.
Referee: Mary Glover

In the main event, world ranked heavyweight Travis Kauffman needed only two rounds to dispose of well-traveled journeyman Epifanio Mendoza. Kauffman, 30-1 with 22 knockouts, Reading, Pennsylvania, traded power shots in the first round with Mendoza, 41-22-1 with 35 knockouts, Barranquilla, Columbia. The ring being a small one, Mendoza could not run or hide, and had to trade power shots with Kauffman. In round two, a Kauffman right-left combination to the body send a battered Mendoza to one knee where he was counted out.

Kauffman post fight interview, opening question by Robert Brizel of Real Combat Media

In the post fight interview, Kauffman called out Chris Arreola and Artur Szpilka. Kauffman also stated he would fight Bermane Stiverne for the world heavyweight title if the money was right. “I’ll leave it up to Al Haymon. I’ll fight Deontay Wilder now if my camp agrees and Nazim Richardson says let’s do it. My dad Marshall Kauffman gave me an arsenal of weapons, and Nazim taught me how to use them.”

Kauffman has been in Stafford, Texas, doing physical conditioning with Danny Arnold, where he stated he would be returning for further physical conditioning work for a few weeks shortly as a bonus to improve his leg conditioning.
