Las Vegas, NV (March 7th, 2015)– 2015 is kicking off with a tremendous jump. Al Haymon who is the man responsible for all the power moves in boxing, has taken all his star fighters and moved them from Showtime to now NBC.
As the first card of this new NBC deal Keith Thurman (24-0,21 Kos) will finally get the big fight he has been asking for against Robert Guerrero (32-2-1, 18 Kos). Both fighters looked in great shape and made weight at 147 pounds. The fight is for the WBA welterweight Championship belt that Thurman will be defending. What’s at stake for these fighters? For Thurman, he could be come a future runner up for Floyd Mayweather should he get pass his May 2nd date with Manny Pacquiao. Guerrero could put himself back in the mix with some of the other guys in the welterweight division and another title shot
Adrien Broner (29-1, 22 Kos) came in one pound over the limit of 140 pounds for his clash against John Molina (27-5,22 Kos) According to some people in the camps Broner did not need to shed the pound because the contract says 140 +1. Regardless of what the contract says, this isn’t a good sign for the junior welterweight fighter. Molina is going to come forward and make this into a brawl. The question remains if Broner can compete in the division. The last time he fought a slugger he suffer a loss to Marcos Maidana
Premier Boxing Champions will air tonight on NBC 8.30 pm est.
