Virgil Quicksilver Hill Attempting Cruiserweight Comeback at Age 51

Williston, North Dakota(January 20th, 2015)– Hall of Fame former World Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight champion Virgil ‘Quicksilver’ Hill, who fought the last of his world championship bouts over seven years ago in November 2007, will return to the ring next month and make a new run at regaining the world cruiserweight title, in a North Dakota card entitled ‘One Last Stand’.
Hill, age 51, 50-7 with 23 knockouts, Williston, North Dakota, will face 28 year old Roger ‘Never Can Tell’ Cantrell, 15-3, eight knockouts, Seattle, Washington. Cantrell’s three losses are to WBA Super World Super Middleweight champion Andre Ward, and world ranked light heavyweights Seanie Monaghan and Andrzej Fonfara. Ward and Monaghan have a combined record of 50-0, and Fonfara just lost a close 12 round decision to WBC World Light Heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson last year. Hill will be tested by Cantrell, who will try to find out if the always marvelously conditioned and highly disciplined Hill has anything left in the tank.
Hill’s ten rounder with Cantrell will be the main eventof an eight bout card held at the Civic Center in Bismarck, North Dakota, on February 28, 2015 at 7 P.M. Hill’s son Virgil Hill Jr., a 4-0 super middleweight prospect, will also appear on the card, along with such fighters as Ron Cruz, Xavier Montelongo, Shannon Gunville, Yumi Matsumoto, Tommy Ray, Matt Michaelson, Kira Ollila, Nate Rubin and Catlyn Little Eagle.
