By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

New York, NY (January 20th, 2015)– World ranked cruiserweight Junior Wright of Chicago, Illinois, will face veteran Rayford Johnson in the 8 round preliminary bout to the main event of an eight bout card at Webster Hall in New York City on Thursday evening, January 22, 2015, promoted by Dmitriy Salita’s Star of David Promotions.

Wright, 12-0-1, ten knockouts, has always had law enforcement in his corner. His co-manager and trainer is Rick Wilson. His other co-manager is Steve Clemente, a State Trooper of Illinois Lodge 41, and President of the Fraternal Order of Police Illinois Pension Fund, representing over 4000 police officers. Cut man George Mitchell is a retired New York City Police Lieutenant. Wright is coming out of camp as a sparring partner to World Light Heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson.

A commemorative memorial plaque will be presented at the Salita card to the commanding officer of several New York City Police Officers who were recently slain. Police officers with identification will be offered admission to the boxing card at 50 percent off based on ticket availability.

Wright’s opponent, Rayford Johnson, 10-16 with six knockouts, Longview, Texas, scored an upset sixth round knockout over rising 16-1 Vincent Miranda is Saratoga Springs, New York, last August. A hot and cold fighter, Johnson is looking to get lucky. Wright is going to insure Johnson’s luck runs out. Wright is predicted to win by technical knockout or knockout anytime from the third round to the fifth round. The fight will not last longer than that, given the discipline Wright has demonstrated in Wasfi Tolaymat’s Chicago Fight Club Gym in constantly improving his speed and stamina.

In the main event, Italian super featherweight Florencio Pagliara is favored by unanimous or majority eight round decision over Antwan Robertson for the World Boxing Union Americas vacant Super Featherweight title bout.

In six rounders: 5-1 Brooklyn middleweight prospect Akil Auguste is favored by second round knockout over knockout over Eddie Edmond; 5-0-3 Kazakhstan lightweight prospect; and 5-0 Brooklyn super lightweight prospect Gary Beriguette is favored by six round decision over Mexican Raphael Luna in what could be the fight of the night, as Luna is an experienced dangerous journeyman willing to take chances.

In four rounders: debuting Bronx welterweight Damien Yero is favored by knockout over 0-5 Mack Babb; 5-1 Newburgh super lightweight prospect Treysean Wiggins is favored by decision over 1-1-1 Russian prospect Llyas Aksabaev; 3-0-2 Bronx Super lightweight prospect Marcos Suarez is favored by decision over journeyman Micah Branch; and 6-1 heavyweight prospect Ytalo Perea of Ecuador is favored by decision over Emilio Salas.
