Tomoki Kameda Makes History, Third Brother To Win A World Championship

Koki Kameda, Daiki Kameda, and Tomoki Kameda of Osaka, Japan, are not just three brothers, they are the only three brothers in history to become recognized world boxing champions. Here’s how it happened for the Ring and Guinness world record books

 

Koki, age 26, is a southpaw who has held the World Boxing Association World Bantamweight title since December 2010 when he won the vacant title by decisioning Alexander Munoz in Saitama,Japan.. A winner of eight consecutive WBA Bantamweight world title bouts, Koki also won the World Boxing Council World Flyweight title by decisioning Daisuke Naito in Saitama, Japan in November 2009. His career record is 31-1 with 17 knockouts.

 

Daiki, age 24, is a former World Boxing Association World super Flyweight champion who has gone the 12 round distance in five WBA world title bouts, winning three of them. A winner of his last six consecutive bouts, Daiki will fight Mexican southpaw Rodrigo Guerrero for the vacant International Boxing Federation World Super Flyweight title in Takamatsu, Kagawa, Japan, on September 3, 2013.  His career record is 28-3 with 18 knockouts.

 

Tomoki, age 22, has the nickname ‘El Mexicanito’ because his 28-0 record includes 16 bouts in Mexico, and 11 bouts in Japan. On August 1, 2013, Koki, a WBC Silver Bantamweight titleholder, decisioned 20-0 Paulus Ambunda of Namibia to win the World Boxing Organization World Bantamweight title in Cebu City, Philippines. Tomoki is promoted in Mexico by boxing champion Saul Canelo Alvarez and Canelo Promotions.
