Diane Fischer Interview and Larry Holmes Westchester Boxing Card Preview

Heavyweight Dorsett Barnwell, according to promoter Diane Lee Fischer Cristiano of Dee Lee Promotions, packs a knockout punch. Barnett will be featured on Fischer’s seven bout professional card on Friday evening, May 24, 2013, at Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York. Former World Heavyweight champion Larry Holmes will call the fight live at ringside over the internet for Gofightlive with Kathy Collins, and will do a meet and greet, posing for pictures and signing for autographs during the fight card, which is sponsored by Corona Beer.

Two four rounders, four six rounders, and an interim women ‘s world title bout will be held. Super featherweight Edwin Cotto will open the card against Joshua Nieves, followed by lightweight Luis Esquilin versus David Warren Huffman, in the four round preliminary bouts. 11-0 cruiserweight Ahmed Samir faces Alexis Mejias, followed by super middleweight Antowyan Aikens versus Yashin Rashid, 8-0 heavyweight Dorsett Barnwell versus David Williams, and popular New York welterweight Tommy ‘The Razor’ Rainone versus James Winchester, all six round bouts.

The ten round main event (two minute rounds) will feature 12-0 interim IWBF International Women’s Boxing Federation world champion Ronica Jeffrey of Brooklyn, New York, versus rugged Winnipeg, Canadian challenger Olivia Gerula, 13-13-2. Gerula, the former World Boxing Council Female Super Featherweight world champion, will be fighting in his seventh consecutive world title bout.

Diane Fischer: “We’re just finishing the weigh in now? Yes, all 14 fighters scheduled to fight made weight. I’m very happy. The fights are really competitive!”

Real Combat Media: “Why did you choose female fighters in your main events?”

Diane Fischer: “The two women, Jeffreys and Gerula, have been wanting to fight each other for awhile. The IWBF finally put the bout together.”

Real Combat Media: “Larry Holmes is coming to the fight card?”

Diane Fischer: “Larry has a friend who knew our people, we asked Larry, and he said he would come. Larry is currently working on a documentary film about his fight with Gerry Cooney. I think they’ll also be filming for documentary at our fight card but I’m not sure.”

Real Combat Media: “When are your upcoming fight cards after Westchester and where?”

Diane Fischer: “September 19, October 31, and December 12.”

Real Combat Media: “Is Dee Lee Promotions still representing rated lightweight and NABA champion Doren Spivey?”

Diane Fischer: “No, he’s been released from his contract.”
