Osumanu Adama Will Not Fight Proksa, BoxRec Incorrect

By Robert Brizel, Real Combat Media Correspondent

New York, NY (February 7, 2013)–A March 29, 2013 scheduled bout posted on BoxRec between world ranked middleweights Osumanu Adama of Ghana, and southpaw Grzegorz Proksa of Poland, scheduled for Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York, will not take place because no contract was ever signed.

The so-called ten round bout was falsely posted on BoxRec by ‘someone’ even though the proposed bout was neither signed nor approved by Adama’s manager Wasfi Tolaymat, Adama’s promoter Cynthia Tolaymat, nor the fighter Osumanu Adama himself. The Tolaymats explained the truth of situation in a telephone interview with Real Combat Media from their Chicago headquarters.

According to Chicago-based fight manager Wasfi Tolaymat of Chicago Fight Promotions, “The bout is not happening. The reason is because there’s no money in it. Adama is worth more money than was offered.” According to promoter Cynthia Tolaymat, “Adama will fight anybody. This would have been a great fight.”

Adama, 20-3, 15 knockouts, last fought on March 7, 2012, losing a decision to Daniel Geale in Tasmania, Australia, in an International Boxing Federation Middleweight title bout.  Proksa, 28-2, 21 knockouts, was stopped in the fifth round by Gennady Golovkin at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in a World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization World Middleweight title bout on September 1, 2012. The winner of Adama-Proksa could have received another world title shot.

The Tolaymats have an exciting seven bout fight card planned for March 16, 2013, at Tsonga Center of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. According to Wasfi Tolaymat, Adama’s manager, Adama will fight in the co-main event on the card.. Popular Lowell super middleweight Irish Joe McCreedy is the other co-main event. Sean Ekland, nephew of fighter Dickie Eklund, will also appear on the card. Fighters Micky Ward and Dickie Eklund will work the McCreedy and Sean Ekland corners.

Other fighters scheduled to appear on the Lowell boxing card in Massachusetts include former WBA light welterweight champion Vivian Harris and Haitian super bantamweight Tyson Cave, now fighting out of Canada. Other Massachusetts fighters scheduled to fight on the card include super middleweight Chris Traietti, light heavyweight Eddie ‘Thunder’ Caminero, and middleweight Bernie Ongewe.
