Las Vegas, NV (January, 17, 2013)–Many sources announced the much anticipated fight of Real Combat Media’s 2012 Fighter of the Year/WBO/Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Belt super bantamweight champion, Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire vs. the WBA Bantamweight champion, Guillermo Rigondeaux.
The fight will be held in Las Vegas on April 27th. The 30 year old Donaire, (31-1-0,20 KOs) is coming off a terrific 2012 during which he moved up in weight and won the WBO super bantamweight from Puerto Rico’s, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. He also defended the title against IBF champion Jeffrey Mathebula of South Africa. He also defeated Japan’s WBC super champion Toshiaki Nishioka and then retired four division world champion Jorge “Travieso” Arce in three rounds. Nonito Donaire has been undefeated since 2001.
Undefeated Cuban, 32 year old Guillermo Rigondeaux (11-0, 8 Ko’s) faces his biggest challenge of his career. He has only had 11 pro fights, however he has had an outstanding amateur career where he won Olympic Gold Medals in 2000 and 2004. Many consider Rigondeaux one of the greatest amateur boxers ever.
In his last title defense on September 15 last year, Rigondeaux won a unanimous twelve round decision over Roberto Marroquin. This will be one of the best Bantamweight fights in years and is a must see event for all boxing fans.
