Here is what is going on in the world of boxing on this week’s edition of the Real Combat Media Boxing Report.
Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (87-5-2, 46KO’s) who was the “WBC Fighter of the Decade”, has decided to call it a career after losing to Filipino Rey Migreno (18-20-3, 16KO’s) on October 31st. That was Wonjonkam’s second shocking loss of the year. He lost to Sonny Boy Jaro in March and now lost by TKO at 2:05 in round 3.
TMT Promotions “The Money Team” is officially over this week…”TMT is over. The money team is no longer a team. So it’s SMS Promotions….that’s it, that’s all. I’m no longer a part or down with TMT Promotions. If anyone wants a Money Team jacket, I’m selling mine for a dollar. The nap back hat comes with it. That’s a fair price. I moved the fighters to SMS Promotions cause the other half of ‘the money team’ didn’t put up their money,” according to 50 Cent on his Twitter account.
50 Cent is teamed up with Manny Pacquiao. 50 Cent promotional company licensed in NY and has boxers; Yuriorkis Gamboa, Billy Dib and Andre Dirrell. It ‘seems’ that his friendship with Floyd Mayweather is officially over. Floyd Mayweather has refrained from any public statements concerning 50 Cent and his failed business partnership.
According to FightHype, a deal is close to being done with Danny Garcia and Zab Judah for a January 19th fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Judah may have the speed advantage in this fight and the experience factor, however Garcia has been impressive, winning his last 2 fights in a row by knockouts. Garcia is stronger, younger and has the more durable chin. Judah is coming off a TKO win against undefeated Vernon Paris in March. He also had a decision victory over the dangerous Lucas Matthyssee. It should be an interesting fight.
Lastly, the major notable fights this weekend are Lucian Bute (30-1,24 Ko’s) against the undefeated Denis Grachev (12-0-1,8 Ko’s) who was a former kickboxer at Super Middleweight. This fight will take place at the Belle Center in Montreal, Quebec on Wealth TV.
The other major fight is undefeated Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (44-0,27 Ko’s) of Thailand takes on Indonesia’s, Chris John (47-0-2,22 Ko’s) for the WBA Superfeatherweight title at Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore, Singapore.
