October 12, 2012 – Philadelphia’s undefeated heavyweight prospect, Joey Dawejko (7-1-1, 3 KOs), was scheduled to face Colombian Oscar Rivas(11-0, 6 KOs) tonight (11-0, 6 KOs), but the bout was called off due to Rivas hurting his hand. The 6-round bout was set to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.
“I’m disappointed that the fight is not happening,” said Dawejko. “The only thing I can do is get ready for the next one. My promoter Boxing 360 is doing a good job keeping me busy, so I’m assuming I’ll be back in the ring soon.”
“Fighters get hurt in this sport and it’s just one of those things where we as a team must move on,” stated Boxing 360 promoter Mario Yagobi. “I’ll have something lined up in the near future for Joey. He’ll be back quickly.”
