By: Pattee Mak — Ringside

Franklin Square, New York— On August 11, 2012 Bob Duffy’s Ring Promotions presented Shamrock in the Park at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant outdoor theater in Franklin Square, New York.  It was perfect weather for this outside venue.  The fights heated up the temperature to over 100 degrees but well worth it.

Prior to the start of this event, the play “Kid Shamrock” the tale of Levittown Light-Heavyweight Bobby Cassidy was performed.

The main event consisted of Michael Brooks from Oceanaide, NY vs. Joey Arroyo of Bronx, NY for the IBA Youth Lightweight Title.  This was an exciting 8 round fight.  Both fighters fought aggressively with no knockdowns to the canvas.  At one point in the fight Arroyo seemed hurt by body shots from Brooks. This was not an easy fight for Brooks.  The judges scored the bout 80-72, 79-73 and 78-74 all for Brooks by UD.

Michael Brooks increased his record to 9-0-0 and Joseph Arroyo decreased his record to 3-3-1.

Other bouts of the evening:

Cindy Serrano vs. Kerri Hill.  Winner Serrano by UD and retains the WIBA International lightweight Title.  Judges scored it 80-72, 80-72 and 79-73.

Nathaniel James vs. Tyyab Beale.  Winner Beale by TKO, 43 seconds into round 4.

Emmanuel Lartei Lartey vs. Bryan Abraham.   Lartey received a cut under his left eye due to a head butt in round 4.  Winner Lartey by UD.  All 3 judges scored it 60-53.

Richard Neves vs. Philip Burnette.  THIS WAS THE FIGHT OF THE NITE! What a slugfest.  This was a war.  Neves definitely a heavy hitter.  I could hear the effect of his punches from where I was sitting.  The referee was definitely busy in this bout.  Winner Neves by UD.  The judges scored it 60-53, 60-54 and 60-53.

Adam Willet vs. Miron Kadyrov.  Winner Willet by UD.  All 3 judges scored it 60-54.
