Mayweather Walks Into Jail Today

By: Eliud Vazquez Torres

LAS VEGAS — Today Floyd Mayweather will be just another number when he begins an 87 day jail term at the Clark County Detention Center. Mayweather pleaded guilty to domestic battery back in December of last year. The incident involved the mother of three of his children while they were present. “Money” as he is likes to be called, was suppose to start his sentence on January 5th.

An arrangement was made for him to delay his sentence in order for a fight with Miguel Cotto on May 5th to be possible. In addition to his sentence, Mayweather was ordered to fulfill a one year domestic violence counseling program, 100 hours of community service and pay a $2,500 fine. Mayweather will be housed with 3,200 other inmates. One hour for exercise everyday is all he will get. It is unclear if Mayweather will have another fight this year. The month of August would be the earliest that Mayweather would be able to train.
