Former World middleweight champion Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik(37-2, 32 KOs) returns to the ring after nearly one year away from the squared circle. Pavlik will take on Aaron “Jedi” Jaco(15-2, 5 KOs) in a scheduled ten round bout.
It will be a much different surrounding for “The Ghost” this time around. No more will he be training in his hometown of Youngstown, Ohio. Also, longtime trainer Jack Loew will not be under the helm. Both men split ties earlier this year after it became apparent that the relationship had become strained in the last couple of years. Kelly will now be under the guidance of world class trainer Roberto Garcia and has relocated to Oxnard, California.
The move to California should become helpful due to his out of the ring distractions back home in Ohio. Not too much is known about his opponent on Saturday night. Aaron Jaco’s record has no notable names on it. The Sarasota, Florida resident’s father David Jaco, was a former gatekeeping heavyweight fighter. The impression here is that Jaco was brought in to evaluate Pavlik in the ring. The “Jedi” would like nothing more than to spring up an upset. It will be interesting to see what Pavlik can offer in the light heavyweight division at this stage of his career.
