By: Head MMA Writer Anthony L. Gonzalez

Main Event: Diaz vs. Condit

Round 1

Carlos Condit spent most of the round backing up and using lateral movement . He was able to keep his range and land leg kicks. Diaz had a hard time this round closing the distance. Condit has a clear reach advantage.

Round 2

Condit was able to continue his lateral movement and frustrate Diaz. Diaz was getting frustrated and was trying to trash talk . But that did not work and Condit was able to implement his game plan the whole round and land some nice body shots combined with more leg kicks. Diaz did trap him in the cage and also landed some nice body shots.

Round 3

Diaz was attempting head kicks early on but Condit continued to use his superior footwork to avoid Diaz’s attack.  Condit landed more leg kicks and was continuing his diversified attack. Diaz was trying to trash talk again, but Condit stayed focused. Condit slipped late in the round by a failed kick attempt but recovered quickly and I feel he just won another round.

Round 4

Diaz is really starting to lose this fight and Condit continues to confuse Diaz . Diaz tries to take Condit down, but Condit stuffs the attempt. Condit’s conditioning is looking real good because he has kept the same pace the entire fight.

Round 5

Sense of urgency for Diaz. Condit continues his lateral movement and lands a nice leg kick followed by a solid right hand. He continues to come forward and moves out to the side to avoid Diaz. Diaz pulls off a miracle takedown and gets Condit’s back. Diaz tries to choke out Condit but Condit does a great job avoiding the choke and was able to survive the round. Diaz does show a lot of heart this round but Condit survives.

Carlos Condit Wins the Interim Title and wins by a Unanimous decision !!!

Diaz retires as he speaks with Joe Rogan !

CO- Main Event: Nelson vs. Werdum

Round 1

Fabricio Werdum return match against “Big Country” Roy Nelson started off with Roy Nelson giving up his back early on . He was able to recover and took some vicious knees from Werdum’s Clinch. Nelson’s nose was clearly broke early on, but Nelson recovered and was able to knock Werdum down with a solid right hand counter. Werdum was able to work his way back up to his feet and was able to land some more kick and knees.

Round 2

Most of Rd 2, Werdum just dominated Nelson on his feet. He was able to land his jab, kicks and knees at high rate of accuracy. Nelson was only able to land one solid effective right hand at the end of the round. Werdum was able to recover and win the round.

Round 3

Early Guillotine attempt by Nelson, but Werdum escaped. Werdum’s Muay Thai was the difference in this round and started to take over. Werdum’s knees were really landing this round and Nelson did a great job surviving these strikes, but the round clearly went to Werdum.

Roy Nelson is one real tough guy and needs to drop to 205 if he plans to have a future in the UFCFabricio Werdum just climbed up the Real Combat Media MMA Heavyweight rankings with this impressive victory. Werdum really looked good on his feet tonight.
