Fighter of the Year Award: Andre Ward

Real Combat Media conducted a vote among it’s writers to vote for a fighter to receive the award for Fighter of the Year. The writer’s all responded by choosing the Super Six Tournament WBA and newly crowned WBC and The Ring Champion, Andre Ward.

We also conducted a readers poll on our Facebook page Real Combat Media.COM, we asked our readers who is their choice for Fighter of the Year. The response was unanimous. Andre Ward won by a landslide.

Fight of the Year Award: Andre Berto vs Victor Ortiz

Real Combat Media and it’s writers had a tough choice to make when it came down to choosing “Fight of the Year”. There were plenty of worthy fights that deserved this award but in the end the Andre Berto vs Victor Ortiz walked away with the award.

Our readers picked Andre Ward as their Fighter of the Year Award Winner in a landslide vote.

Round of the Year Award: James Kirkland vs Alfredo Angulo Round 1

When we asked our writers to choose the round that deserved Round of the Year, it was another tough choice to make. We saw several fights that were worthy but only two lead in the votes with Kirkland vs Angulo Round 1 barley surpassing Berto vs Ortiz round 6.

Prospect of the Year Award: Gary Russell Jr.

The writers of Real Combat Media chose Gary Russell Jr. as their Prospect of the Year by a majority decision.

Our readers voted for Gary Russell Jr. their Prospect of the Year Award Winner.

Comeback Fighter of the Year Award: James Kirkland

For Comeback Fighter of the Year, our writers chose James Kirkland for this award for overcoming his adversity inside and outside the ring.

The readers/boxing fans also selected James Kirkland as their Comeback Fighter of the Year Award Winner.

Knockout of the Year Award: Nonito Donaire

There was no doubt among our writes as to who deserved the award for Knockout of the Year. Nonito Donaire’s vicious KO of Fernando Montiel was something else.
