Father Time Defeats Ex-Champ Hasim Rahman, Age 53, Who Loses in an Indiana Six-Rounder

Lowell, Indiana (September 27th, 2026)– Looking more like a washed-up version of Jerry Quarry than a rejuvenated version of Big George Foreman, former World Heavyweight Champion Hasim ‘The Rock’ Rahman, age 53, attempted a comeback after 12 years out of the ring, but lost a unanimous six-round decision to obese club fighter Phillip Triantafillo at VFW Post 6841, in Lowell, Indiana, on September 24, 2026. No weights were posted for the six-round heavyweight bout.
Noted ring commentator Marc Abrams provided commentary, with the overhyped bout featuring only 12 apparent spectators to witness Rahman, 50-10-2 with 41 knockouts, who appeared to be in condition, nonetheless lose by scores of 59-55, 58-56 and 58-56 to Triantafillo, age 40, 5-4 with one knockout, Los Angeles, California, Trojan Fight League.
The sanctioned bout featured an impressive poster. Only 12 spectators appeared in attendance. The bout featured six sluggish rounds with a great deal of holding. Triantafillo bullied Rahman into the ropes frequently, working on the inside with uppercuts and one-two combinations, with Rahman countering with some body shots. The two fighters frequently grappled, but were careful not to punch themselves out. Rahman attempted to assert his jab, but continued to get tangled up by Triantafillo. Both fighters appeared tired by round three, and neither was throwing punches with zip or power. The key factor was that Triantafillo was more active than Rahman by volume. Neither combatant was in danger.
Late in the bout, Triantafillo landed some head shots and uppercuts, and continued bullying Rahman onto the ropes, where Rahman had no answer. Rahman’s issue was that he had no power. Rahman needed only to turn one round on the scorecards to earn a draw. Triantafillo landed some head and body combinations in the sixth and final round and appeared to win it. There was no intensity on Rahman’s part, who was in the ring physically, but not mentally into the bout. Triantafillo did enough to outwork Rahman.
Rahman’s loss paralleled the failed comeback at 47 of former top heavyweight contender Irish Jerry Quarry in October 1992, who lost a six rounds decision to 3-4-1 Oregon club fighter Ron Cranmer at the Holiday Inn in Aurora, Colorado. Quarry had been out of the ring for nine years, last winning a majority 10-round decision over James Williams, fought at cruiserweight, in Bakersfield, California, in November 1983.
