By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
San Juan, Puerto Rico (January 1st, 2026)– DAZN and Jake Paul’s MVP Promotions will present an exciting 12 bout card of professional boxing at Coliseo Roberto Clemente on Saturday, January 3, 2025, featuring four female bouts, three of which are scheduled to go out at three minute rounds instead of two.
There has been long been an argument for greater safety in female pro boxing bouts, which is why most (though not all) female bouts take place with rounds of two minutes duration. Some of those protocols will be thrown into the wind this weekend, and the betting lines will be affected by the extended time factor in these crossroads female bouts.
The most important bout on the card will be the World Female Featherweight unification bout between southpaw World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organisation World Female Featherweight champion Amanda Serrano against youthful challenger Reina Tellez. Serrano has not defended this title since October 2023. Nonetheless, even at age 37, Amanda has the edge on rounds of experience and overall ring generalship.
Amanda Serrano is the Moneyline overwhelming favorite against Reina Tellez due to significant disparities in experience, power, and professional record. Odds from major sportsbooks reflect this, with Serrano around -2000 to -2500 and Tellez at +900 to +1000.
Key Factors Influencing the Odds
Experience and Level of Competition: Serrano (47-4-1, 30 KOs) has vastly more experience, having competed in numerous championship bouts and across seven different weight divisions. Tellez (13-0-1, 4 KOs) is undefeated but has primarily fought at a lower level and this will be her first world title shot and first scheduled ten-round bout.
Power and Finish Rate: Serrano has a significantly higher TKO/KO percentage (66%) compared to Tellez (38%), indicating greater punching power. Experts predict a TKO/KO finish for Serrano as a likely outcome.
Championship Pedigree:Â Serrano is the reigning undisputed women’s featherweight champion, a status that commands strong favoritism in betting markets. Tellez is stepping in as a late replacement opponent for the original challenger, Erika Cruz.
Physical Attributes: Serrano stands 5’5″ in height and has a 65 ½ reach. Serrano has a height advantage over the smaller 5’0″ Tellez. and overall physical attributes which contribute to her dominance over the lower female weight classes.
Robert Brizel’s Prediction Record (37-8-4)
Main Card Prediction: Serrano, 47-4-1 with 31 knockouts, Carolina, Puerto Rico, is predicted to win by TKO. Rounds of three rounds duration favor the more experienced Serrano over the inexperienced Tellez, 13-0-1 with 10 knockouts, San Antonio, Texas, in a more lengthy 10 rounds female bout of here minutes rounds duration, than the standard 10 rounds female bout with rounds of two minutes duration, the key factor here. That, and the fact late sub Tellez is in fact a bantamweight and super bantamweight and is not a featherweight.
Robert Brizel’s Serrano vs. Telles Undercard Bout Predictions:
Yankiel Figueroa is favored to win by TKO over Jonathan Gonzalez, Flyweights.
Holly Holm is favored to win by 10 rounds decision over Stephanie Han, female lightweights, three minutes rounds.
Henry Lebron is favored to win by eight rounds decision over Juan Tapia, Super Featherweights.
Jan Paul Rivera-Pizarro is favored to win by eight rounds decision over Alfredo Cruz, Featherweights.
Abner Cotto is favored to win by six rounds decision over Edwin Rodriguez, Bantamweights.
Alexis Chaparro is favored to win by six rounds decision over Augusto Salazar, Middleweights
