Claressa “GWOAT” Shields Defeats Lani Daniels in Detroit, Michigan
Detroit, Michigan (August 3rd, 2025)– Undisputed female heavyweight champion Claressa “GWOAT” Shields (17-0, 3 KOs) defeated IBF light heavyweight champion Lani Daniels (11-3, 1 KO) by unanimous 10-round decision on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. For most of the early morning, Daniels rode her bike; Shields tailed her. Midway through, Shields started working on Daniels’ body. Daniels often lost out, but was ready to trade late. 100–90, 99–91, 99–91 were the scores.
After a two-year and a half hiatus, former WBC super welterweight champion Tony Harrison (29-4-1, 21 KOs) won by a ten-round unanimous decision over Edward “Ciclon” Diaz (15-6, 12 KOs) in his comeback fight. Harrison overcame a ninth-round knockdown and won, scoring 96–93, 98–91, 97–92. Unbeaten heavyweight Pryce Taylor, with a record of 9-0 and 6 knockouts, prevailed over Robert Simms in a drab unanimous eight-round decision. With three knockouts, Simms’ record is 12-5-1. Three times the score was 80–72.
Super lightweight female Samantha Worthington (12-0, 7 KOs) defeated Victoire Piteau (14-3, 2 KOs) by a majority decision (99-91, 96-94, 95-95) in a bouyt for the WBA intermediate world title, thus moving one step toward vying for a world championship belt.
Caroline Veyre (10-1, 0 KOs), a female featherweight, defeated Licia Boudersa (24-4-2, 4 KOs) in a close 10-round unanimous decision (99–91 twice and 98–92) to win the WBC silver title.
Super middleweight Da’Velle Smith (13-0, 8 KOs) beat Martez McGregor (9-9, 7 KOs) in a unanimous decision (79-72, 80-71, 80-71).
Featherweight Cameran Pankey (12-1, 4 KOs) defeated Dominque Griffin (6-10-2, 2 KOs) in a unanimous decision (59-55, 60-54, 59-55).
In a middleweight fight, Jaquan McElroy (3-0 1 KO) beat Joshua Flores (5-7 2KOs) by unanimous decision (40-35, 40-35, 40-35).
Kahmel Makled (3-0, 3 KOs) knocked Devario Hauser (0-1) at the 2:03 mark of the third round in the light heavyweight division.
Makled delivered an incredible knockout of Hauser in the first round. In the opening fight of the night, heavyweight Sardius Simmons (2-0, 1 KO) beat Demetrius Banks (13-17-2, 6 KOs) by UD (40-36, 40-36, 40-36). Hauser was on the ground but not out from the headshot-knockdown; he recovered to be knocked down many more times by body shots.
